What MPH hour does an auto shift into third at WOT?

When I was in Hawaii we rented a GT vert. It was an auto and if I remember right it shifted to third at about 100 mph.(It's been a couple of months ago) Does that seem right? I wonder if it had 2.73s or what?

my 2001 Auto-vert hit third in between 78-83 mph when it was stock.

Yeah if I remember correctly this thing was close to 100 MPH in second.


EDIT-It was pretty fast for a vert auto with 4 people in it. I can only imagine if it would have had 4.10s.

Yeah, when I need to give a highway ricer an idea of what he's toying with... second gear up to 85-90 just about does it.

Someone mentioned above stock gears being 3.27? Thats just in manuals.... autos are 2.73.

no, the 99+ GTs all have 3.27:1 rear end gear ratios, whether they be automatics or manuals. Expect second gear to top out around 83 mph if its left completely stock (rear end gear, wheel/tire size, etc).

Hmmm. This was an 03 and I know it was over 90 MPH.

Except for 2004 Automatic GTs, which were blessed with 3.55s.
