What MSD Ignition should I use????

I have an 89 lx. I just put a motor in it this summer (f303, ported gt40 heads, 65mm throttlebody, ported explorer intake) I don’t plan on upping the power at all. I’m wondering what would be the best msd ignition box to use? Can I just add the box? Or do I need to change out the distributor as well? Im sorry in advance for the stupid question?

i THINK alot of people run an msd box on a stock dizzy but what are you looking for from it? rev limiter? on my 67's motor i used the mallory uni lite dizzy because its a ready to run setup all self contained.

Two things:
1.) The stock ignition is good to 400 HP without NO2 or pressurized induction.
2.) MSD stands for May Suddenly Die. I see more problems with MSD here on Stangnet than any other product.

Buy something else if you have money burning a hole in you pocket.

i have used MSD stuff for a pretty long time no problems so far

Use the 6al2, digital box, programable, and priced well. I used a digital 6 on my car and i definitly noticed a big difference when i drove it, it really woke the car up. this motor made 390 to the tires.

Its not gonna hurt you to put one on but there are other things you could spend the money on that would be more worthwile then the MSD

For such a mild N/A combination, I would just make sure I had new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and an aftermarket coil. I don't think you'll gain anything with an ignition box.

i have had nothing but issues with MSD, as well as my cousin's and uncle. search MSD on the boards here, you'll find nothing but horror stories.

i'd go for something more beneficial than an ignition box anyway.

the best box you can get is the one you use to fedex the MSD box back to summit.
get a crane etc, unless youd like a pretty, useless red box a few years down the road.

Ive been running it for years now with no problems. At one point in time I thought it was my problem but it wasnt...

That being said, do you guys think it might be a matter of quantity sold as to why there are more horror stories present? I mean, everyone has manufacturing errors and the more sold, the more error stories...
