I just bought a 96 gt and was wondering which mufflers/catbacks would sound good with an x pipe without being raspy. I want that deep full sound. Here are some combos I was thinking tell me what you think.

1. X pipe/ MAC mufflers

2. X pipe / Borla mufflers

3. X pipe/ Magnaflows ( packs)

Any other ideas? thanks.

My son has a catted X with SLP's, sounds real good, but I don't know what some consider raspy?? Kinda reminds me of a NASCAR sound when they leave the pits and are going up through the gears.

Mac catback UPR off road xpipe

x pipe with mac flowpath....

having a true crossover pipe really nets a nice sound...like the upr above or a maggie x-pipe

SLP loudmouths, Magnapacks, Borla Stingers, basically any straight through design.

I had a MAC cat-back and it had too much drone at 2k rpms. I then had Magnaflows welded in and it gave me a nice, deep, low rumble and no drone. I get compliments all the time. I think some regular Magnaflows with your X will sound nice if you don't want it too loud at idle but a nice rumble when accelerating or cruising.

One of the best sounding Stangs I've ever heard. But there have been an ongoing debate as to which exhaust he actually has. Dr.Gas/VRS/UPR + Mac Catback or Flowmaster Catback.

Can't believe no one's mentioned Bassani. See the post on 'You get what you pay for.'

I would use a strait through muffler. I prefer borla and bassani but sound is subjective.

I am a big fan of borla. I have had a ****load of different exhausts over the years and borla is usually my favorite. bassani is nice as well but I can't pay the extra money for it.

magnflow and slp are other obvious choices I just don't think they sound as good.

you mean the plain old cat-back, not the stingers right? does anyone happen to know if borla sells them seperately? cuz i know they dont sell the stinger mufflers individually.

how much do the upr's cost? Do they rust. And also what are the prices on a bassani x I think I saw 227$ somewhere but I could be crazy. Also who has the best deals on the Mac catbacks?
