What Mustang Should I Purchase?

I was very hesitant about the GT appearance pkg. with non fuctional scope, btu the car they found for me in my price range had it and i took it.

Now i wouln't have it anyoterh way.

By the way buy a VISTA BLUE GT, they are fastest!!!

Go to a dealer they can search by option at other dealers and should find exactly or close to what you want for the price. I went in with a list of options and my price and they seached for 2.5hrs online and calling other ford deales until they found one i wanted i ate plenty of donuts and drank a pot of coffe sitting there waiting. I turned down 15 cars or so because they couldn't find my specs lol it was kinda of fun watching them work so hard.

They told me to special order new would take 10-14 weeks for an 09'.

Just as a tid bit of info there will be a bunch of dealers still sitting on 07's they will dump off pretty cheap if you cant accept a color you way not want.

I also have the GT appearance package and love it. It is not a waste of money. I have not changed my exhaust and have no plans to do so. So that is not an issue for all of us. I also was hesitant about the hood scoop but love it now that I have it.
I also have the comfort package. You definitely want the premium version of the GT. My color and much else is standard with that. I don't care about the Mycolor but that also includes the guages which are, in my opinion, essential.

You definitely need the interior upgrade package.

If I had to stare at the stock gauge color I'd go crazy with how old and faded it looks. I have mine set to an HID style white, instead of the pale antique white, or Top Gun Green.

Also, the Bullit will still depreciate in value just as fast as a GT. And all you really get is mufflers, air filter, strut brace, baby gears, and deleted foglights. You can buy all that aftermarket and actually get BETTER performance out of the GT afterwards. Plus, who wants to get rid of the foglights and look like a V6?

2007 Alloy GT Premium.

In the end, I think I am most comfortable with the Alloy. I was able to find a 05 Sonic Blue that I drove this morning. It just felt too flashy. I should stipulate, these are all personal preferences, and I dont mean to imply that Sonic Blue GT mustangs are in any way uncool, just not for me. I think I was drawn to the Vista Blue of the V6 I drove, because it was a V6. It may sound counter-intuitive, but I felt more comfortable driving a more flashy V6. I think, I am comfortable being extravagant in one, and only one, way. Either, I am extravagant because I have a big engine, or because I have a flashy color and a pony package. Both the big engine and the bright color were just too much for me. Or maybe, I think the GT driving lights just look better on more subdued cars. There is something about the blue color and the pony package that worked, not so much on the GT.

Anyway, we'll see what happens with the Alloy.

I have an oddball color that doesn't draw any attention to itself. (Mineral Grey) I think the plastic grill and everything will go well with the alloy color.

Please tell me you are getting black leather!

I am now the proud owner of one totally stock 2007 Alloy GT, full interior upgrade including heated seats.

I am very happy with the color. It is not too menacing as I had feared, in fact, it is very dignified and suave.

Interesting story. I found the car at a dealer 100 miles from my home. While driving it home, I averaged 35MPG. The thing was cruising at 80mph, at 1500RPM for an hour. So far, I tend to just idle everywhere, and the gas mileage has continued to be in the low thirties through town. I had wondered about that. See, I am coming from an 02 golf diesel which is rated at 49 mpg hwy. BUT.. I think the hwy numbers are for just that, the old two line highways with speed limits of 55. At interstate speed, the golf had to maintain 2800RPM at 80mph in 5th gear. That killed your gas mileage advantage. You might think you could fix this with a 6th gear, but I dont think it was powerful enough to fight wind resistance at the speed with anything but the 2800 RPM. I wanted a car that idles on the interstate, and I think I found it.

EDIT*** This MPG if totally wrong. I explain later in the thread that I was watching the Average MPH instead of the Average MPG. I just thought I would leave this post in the thread, so later comments would make sence. Just to be clear, I was NOT getting 35MPG.

Also, while merging onto the interstate, I put it into 2nd and floored it to see what it could do, because that is my standard procedure for merging onto the interstate. I made the rookie mistake of watching my RPMs too closely, the end of the merge lane came SO FAST! Wayy before I was at peak RPM. It was scary. I almost ran the thing off the highway in the first ten minutes of ownership. This is the most dangerous time. I have purchased enough new things in my life to know, if your going to screw them up, its when you first start using them and your fooling around with the bells and whistles, and not familiar enough with the new toy to know what it can and cannot do.

Can I just say though....

Mustang GTs are amazing.

Congrats on the new toy! I, too, have an '07 Alloy GT, and I swapped in the V6 Pony lights to keep the car subtle looking. Like you: a car that talks, or a car that walks, but not both in one car. Alloy is a cool color in the sunshine, but looks like "wet pavement" most other times. Try your darndest to keep it between the lines!

Here's my car on the dyno recently so you can see it with the different grille, just in case you decide the big GT foglights are too much...

I think I would compare payments between new and used, ford is offering killer interest rates and rebates now, I don't know how much on the stangs. Mid summer has allways been a good time to buy as there moving thier old inventory to make room for the new model year.
Yeah, for sure it would have to be a V-8.

Me too. My CDC black powder coated billit grill just came in yesterday, can't wait to get it on. I've never liked the big bug eye looking fog lights on the GT's. I can't use them at night anyway because I constantly get flashed.

Congrats on the Alloy purchase! If I could have afforded an '07 that would have been my first choice, but with 0/72 offer on the VB '06, that was a no brainer!
Be careful with the new ride Just wait until you get a tune or CAI/tune package and add about 30 more RWHP

Mustang GTs are amazing.

I bet you are all smiles and full of excitement. :-D I'm happy for you!

Your gas mileage is amazing! I get ~28mpg highway, and average 18-22mpg for the tank.

Seriously, I hope you saved money for modifications. The car may seem fast now by whatever comparisons you have, but once you get an intake and tune you will be full of all kinds of new smiles. The tune really brings the car to life.

Try using them both with 20,000 volt HID lights. I get flashed a lot too.
