what needs to be done to make an explorer upper work??

ok i am getting a gt40 intake tomorrow from a friend. (turns out the intake is an ACTUAL factory 93 cobra intake) so it will fit up without tapping the hole on some explorer intakes.


i will need an an upper i am looking at explorers b/c they are much cheaper
but what needs to be done with the vac lines to make it work with my engine??

Just got done swapping mine to gt40 lower and upper and most of the lines hooked right up. Prolly a good idea to get new hoses for the connections though.

From the lower back driverside corner the vac line hooks to the pcv valve

From the front big vac line it hooks to the carbon canister inside the front passenger fenderwell or to another vac port if there isn't one like mine

From the back that splits into one big line and two small ones, the big one connects to the driverside vac tree and the two small ones, one goes to the EVR on the lower passengerside fender behind the strut tower and the other goes to the fuel rail

The other holes prolly already have plugs so work with what you have the best you can. Vacuum is vaccum.

i thinkit depends on the year explorer.....

is this something your putting on your engine you have now or are you saving it for the other engine your working on?

i ask because depending on the upper there's some egr differences i think and to run it on your current engine some years would be easier to use than others although i couldn't tell you which years what......

hmm i thought about puttin it on my current motor, just to see what kind of a gains it will give alone.

but it will go on the new motor, to help with my cam and ported heads.

Just got done after some problems on my explorer intake, mainly lower vac leak, but man, i gotta tell ya it was worth every bind I got in. Doesn't kick in right away with the torque like the stock, but once you gets somewhere like 2500 plus rpms you can feel the difference and it kicks A**!!!!
