What needs to be done to remove tranny w/engine?

If you are pulling the trans with the engine you are going to want to fasten those "L" brackets securely to those accessory holes on the end of the heads.

You should figure out what that crap is in those holes and clean out at least one of 'em with a drill bit (not too big) then a tap. I think they are size 3/8-16. Or leave it and just use a hole that isn't pluged up.

Ya might wanna pull your distributor so the chain doesn't hit it and damage it.

As far as the engine stand, once you get the transmission off, you might be able to use those bolts. If they are not long enough just buy some cheap ones at your local home store. They don't have to be any special grade just to hold the engine on the stand. If they are long enough it should be no problem.

Thanks for the help. We just decided to get some longer bolts for the intake manifold and bolted the L brackets to the four corners of it. The four accessory bolt holes are all different sizes. It's stupid. Went smoothly for our first time for the most part.

Take the tranny off the motor and use the same holes in the engine that the tranny was attached to, to hang the engine. The bolts holding the tranny to the block now will probably not be long enough to use for securing the engine to the engine stand mount.

The long bolts are to connect it to the stand not the lift. Just making sure you got that.

You cannot put the thing on a stand with the tranny connected, at least not to any stand I ever owned.
