i noticed a decent gain when i put shortie headers on my near stock gt! especially when you have gears. sounds better too. and i disagree with something else too.

the set i bought, the bolt holes werent lined up, the tube was bent incorrectly on one side so that i couldnt get a spark plug in, and i had to smooth the runners out with sand paper, and of couse they leaked like hell. so for 50 bucks more i got the ford ones and they worked great no problems. plus a couple of my buddies tried flowtechs on thier stangs and they sucked! do your self a favor and get ford, or bbk if u do long tubes. flowtechs might be ok for an old carbuerated car with lots of engine bay room.

Yeah they're only $110 but they won't bolt up to a stock exhaust so WTF good are they if you have to drop another $300 into a short H or X? Your $500 is gone in a flash going that route. He can't afford an intake and injectors on top of that. Injectors are a waste of money. I got a set of 24's on a very mild setup and they did absolutely nothing. Only reason I got them was in anticipation of future plans. IntenseBlue has mentioned a few good early bolt-ons. I'd add a short throw to his plan and you'll be happy. SOTP might not be night and day but you'll probably notice a little difference. If nothing else your puppy will sound better. The short throw will make you think you're driving a race car.
