What oil do you use in your 5.0

I'm wondering what oil (viscosity and brand) people are using in their new Mustangs. I assume Ford uses some variant of Motor Craft oil from the factory, but I will likely change to Mobile One (or maybe Royal Purple) when I get my car arrives sometime in late November.

Whatever is on sale at WallyWorld is good enough for me. Don't worry so much about the oil. Spend your money on a good Motorcraft Filter instead.

Personally I'd prefer to use a quality oil and filter. That's one place I won't "cheap out" after I had a camshaft break on a VW diesel due to an obstructed oil passage that supplies oil to the head.

The total cost for a new head, stretch bolts, timing belt, head gasket, water pump, engine mount, etc. was over $4000

Ford uses semi-synthetic as factory fill.

I'm with you on mobil 1, top quality and really good price at walmart.

And definitely either a motorcraft or Wix or NAPA Gold oil filter. Wix makes the NAPA filter and they have very good filter media and use a synthetic anti-drainback valve.

They're very poorly built. I would stick with the Motorcraft filters.

Use motorcraft oil and filter, ive been using motorcraft in my 5.0 in my 90. with 180k on it, it does not smoke and the bottom end looked very clean when I replaced my oil pump and pan gasket.
