What paint to use for engine compartment?

While I have my engine out Id like to clean it up a bit and paint it. Does anyone have any paint recommendations or know where to get it? Id obviously like it to be black again

make sure to clean it very very good and then if you dont want to spend the money and have it painted with real automotive paint use like duplicolor or somthing, of the rattle can nature

Black is much easier then another color, even if you used a satin finish out of a spray can it still matches the car. I used single stage dupont centari shot from a siphon feed gun.

Black gloss oven paint...it's stronger than typical paint and it'll hold up to chemicals and won't chip as easy. Primer first.

gloss would look better but it makes grease more visible

but imo... i'd go with satin

i'd go with gloss black since the exterior of you car is gloss black why would you try to match that?

i used por-15. they sell it in semi-flat black, and glossy black. you can spray it or put it on with a brush, even with a brush you will get no brush marks. it flows out great, it is very durable, you can actually hit it with a hammer and it wont chip, http://www.por15.com

here is a pic of mine. just got it painted yesterday. Hopefully i will have the motor in by tomorrow. Jsut have a few more accessories to clean and paint. Also is there a special tool to take off the round seal/gasket on the timing chain cover??

Place it on two spacers (i.e. two 2x4s) and tap it out with a hammer and punch or screw driver, use a hammer on a piece of wood or correct sized socket to drive new one in.

its actually gloss black.

I figured out how to get the seal out yesterday. It was pretty difficult to get the new one in but i used teh 2x4 idea and it worked pretty good.
