Well, depending on the year the TC could put out more or less...the Merk is the middle power engine. They are all "the same" though and have the same potential...you can turn any of them into and SVO engine, TC engine, etc.
I will have to agree and will go further. It will soley depend on the years of engines that we are talking about here because they are all 2.3 L with a T/3 or an IHI so that year depending on the turbo and the gear ratio will make a difference.
Now taking any of these engines down to the block will allow you to mix and match parts from any of the years to create your engine at the spec that you have chosen.
I have a 1986 Merkur Motor that I have rebuilt and am building it up tp a 86 SVO spec not the Merkur.
Here's something I've been wondering lately and haven't seen answered. Let's say I started out with a Merk motor and a Merk wiring harness...how different would the wiring be from an '87-'88 TC as per Stinger's site? I'm anything but good at wiring, so I pretty much need it laid out for me.
Basically, how different would the wiring conversions be between different motors and my car?
Ash, Stinger has the wiring laid out for a 91-93 swap. A merkur motor is just like a 87-88tc motor, minus the ACT sensor.
I know the 91-93 wiring is more involved than 87-90, but it would still be easier to repin than to swap an entire harness.....IMO.
Hmm, alright, I guess I'd kinda missed that somehow. Still looking for an '87-'88 motor for the 35#'s and serpentine, but I guess I'd be able to swap my brackets and accessories and find a set of 35#'s on TF or something. Probably drop my stock '92 cam and followers in as well. If the Merk doesn't have an ACT plug in the intake, where would be a good place to stick it?
