What rear end is this, it does have a badge on it, someone said to look at the badge and if it has a (L) on it, it is a limited slip rear, from the factory, I looked and it has no (L) on it so I'm assuming someone swapped out the limited slip and replaced it with a single slinger , it does only spin one wheel, but it could be worn so bad it won't grab, but most likely it is a single since the badge doesn't have the (L) on it, I will pull the cover tonight to see, but anyways is it a 7.5 or the 8.8?, I dont know how to tell.
I am going to be ordering a new limited slip unit for it and don't want to buy the wrong one, will it be a 28 or 31 spline also?
Oh, don't pay any attention to the wasp nests

So, is it an 28 or 31 spline?

Should be a 28 spline. 31 splines were in the Ranger and Explorer, along with the full size trucks. The easy way to tell a 7.5 or an 8.8 is that the 8.8 has four flat sides while the 7.5 has two flat and two round sides.

Does anyone have a picture of a 7.5 and an 8.8 so I can tell how to identify each of them? I seen someone post a picture of each of them but I can't find it.

Would Orielly's or AutoZone have a rebuild kit for it, or will I have to order one?
