As you can see from the pic I'm still a long ways away from shooting color but I'd like to pick something now. The original colr was Caspian Blue but it's going to be red this time. Any suggestions on what red, doesn't have to be an original red or Ford red. I want a bright red, no metallic, something that really stands out, not too much orange in it. Any ideas?

for my car i got the lighter shade of '07 VW red. i chose it because it is more of a purple/red red then orange or brown like most of the reds that you see. here are some pics from a couple years ago:

Viper red is nice but a bit too much orange in it, it's for my wife and she doesn't like the orange reds which is too bad, Guards Red is really nice but quite orange as well. I haven't seen any new Ferrari's so I don't know how that red looks, I've seen older ones but the paint had lost some of it's pigment over the years so they didn't look great.

That VW red looks quite nice, do you have the paint code by any chance? Didn't know VW had a lighter red. I had a car many, many years ago that was presumably painted an Audi red and was spectacular but when I went through the chip book I couldn't find anything like it.

I also talked to a guy that had a 55 T-Bird he painted Lipstick Red, he said it was an early 80's Ford color, it was very red.

Biggest problem is getting paint codes, you go to you jobber and he doesn't know either and hands you 4 feet of paint chip books to go through

Keep the ideas coming guys

Well, it's probably a good idea to stick with an original 65 color. there's Rangoon Red (done to death, IMHO) and Poppy Red (which reappeared in 69 as Calypso Coral).

I'm not particularly into original stuff, more of a restomod kind of guy so the only reason I would use an original color is if I really liked it. It isn't going to be some wild looking thing but I'm shaving all emblems and doing subtle mods to it. It isn't a K-code, a GT or anything more valuable than the form itself, doesn't have a numbers matching engine either so we'll see where I go with that as well. The poppy red looks pretty good, I'll be paying more attention at car shows this year. I'm leaning towards Lipstick red at the moment, this 69 was done in it and looks pretty nice. Problem is getting the right mix, I was at the jobber today and that code pulled up a different red

I saw some little ricer last night, pretty sure it was a Honda and it really was very red, I'll have to add it to my list to check out. What color is your vert? Looks pretty stunning in the picture
