Mine seems to be shifting lower in the RPMS now than it used to. It looks like its about 4900 rpms when it shifts at WOT. I could have sworn it used to go til at least 5200 before shifting. What about you other AODE guys? Where do yours shift? And how do I get the shift points changed?

I usually leave the OD off all the time unless Im on the freeway. THen I will let it into 4th and just cruise. But if Im getting on it some I always have it off.

I manual shift my car 95% of the time. I run it up to 5,500 and hit the next gear.

Shifting on it's own, if I remember right, it shifts at 5,000. Unless it gets that funky... "hey I wanted to bounce off the rev limiter for a second, then drop down a gear." Yet another reason I manual shift.

Also, I NEVER turn on O/D unless I'm on the highway as well, or running 50+ for a long stretch. I've burned up O/D before and it sucks.

Don't know much about the autos, but I think that's where they all shift at from the factory. Maybe a chip could fix this, but chips are not very popular for the 5.0, I'm sure somebody else will chime in with more info.

Just thought of something else... I used to think my car was dropping the shift too. Turned out my Factory Tach was on the way out. I have a real one now and the Factory Tach is all over the place. Totally useless. Something to think about.

Very good point paul. I was just wondering because since I added the ported manifold and 80mm MAF I went to the track and ran consistant 14.8's all night at 94 mph. So I am just trying to figure out how I lost 4 tenths and 2 mph. I guess it could have just been the hot weather. But its seriously time for a stall.

the 4r70w is in my 01 gt... have not installed it in my 94 yet ( the spare one i have)

it feels no different then my aode, but aparently they are much stronger. shifts are soggy just like the stock aode. the 327 gear makes cruising nice too!

Mine shifts at 5200, always has. I don't manual shift anymore, most times I would bounce the limiter when doing this since there is almost a 1 sec. pause on a stock AODE w/o a shift kit. Plus, it made a funky jerk in the car that I really didn't like, I really don't have the funds right now to be replacing my tranny, I just want to be able to afford the stall.

So to manually shift you let off the gas for a second right? and then hit the gas again?

No u just move the shifter from 1-2-etc... yourself instead of letting the computer shift it.

are you talking about the car hitting the limiter like hitting neutral between gears for a quick second...like it doesnt know what gear it should be in?? that just happened to me not more than 10 minutes ago (again ) i didn tknow if my trans was on its way out (again ) or if this is a pretty common glitch with the factory settings...?
and for reference if it doesnt get funky its will shift at 5200...all stock with improved accumulators
