What RPM's does everyone idle at

When my car is warm, it usually idles around 600-700. It definitely seems low, I've actually killed the motor by turning the wheel to full lock (high load on the engine, I guess). How do you adjust the idle? I've never thought about it.

you cant cchange the idle its all computer controled

um, you can adjust base idle by turing the screw/spring on the throttle body plate. Clockwise raises idle , counter does the oposite. Very simple!

my car idles at 2500k rpm.....with a pcv vaccum leak! #(*(@ with that giant gaping whole filled with a pcv it idles 900-1100 rpm, spose to be lower, but the engine is more stable and vibrates less at that rpm ...tis a beautiful thing when your car doesnt die at idle!

140...how does the previous jackstand queen idle?? (hint hint*) :D

Thats not a "idle adjustment" screw. it is simply there as a stop screw.

if you want to adjust the idle "properly" you will have to get a chip or tuner to change it

that "stop" screw will change your idle, but you need to keep in mind that you need to adjust your TPS back to the correct voltage to properly be at idle...

ie: bumping your idle from 700-900 might make your TPS read over .98 which the computer will think your car is never at idle... you'll get horrible gas mileage and possible surging. also when you play with the idle stop screw you have to reset your computer because the butterfly will be open more, which means at idle your car's IAC will be off...

Ok I know this may stray some from the topic, but I have to ask anyways. Do they make a super chip for these cars, and does a tunner just reprogram a EEC completely? Like if I had a PJ EEC could I reprogram it for a PE EEC? Aslo if your EEC is a older one with idleing problems could either a super chip or a tunner fix this?

Just exploring options to my idleing problem on my SVO.

Thanks

kinda expensive, havent heard and 100% proven facts on how well it performs...

Now does this basicaly replace the EEC? Like once you plug it in, it takes over and the car runs off of it?

This bottom part is almost word for word whats going on with my car and I wonder if a tunner would fix this, or should I just swap in a LA3 ?

This part was copyed from SVOCA thread IAC

****I told you guys this would happen on my earlier post . You guys said it will do it sometimes right not always? Are these symptoms more present on warm days especially after the engine is nice and hot like getting off the freeway? Its the ECU, if everything else is new/replaced and it is still doing this, it is that knock sensor (KS) circuit in the ECU that is affecting your ignition timing (it is your timing that is not advancing correctly is why your car falls on its face at low RPMs and sometimes at high depending on how long your on the gas). You see, the more boost you make the more fuel and timing youll need too. The TSB on our Database said that all early SVOs will tend to have these problems if the ECU fails to advance timing when it needs to because of the KS circuit problem in the ECU being faulty and sending the wrong the signal.
My car, when it happens, will read boost but not feel any torquier, actually it seems to loose power when it boosts until you get high enough in the RPMs when it finally advances and then BOOM, like a rocket takes off. More symptoms may include:

Loss of fuel economy because your foots in it a lot more and because of your timing problems.

On deceleration in gear or when you rev the engine at idle or while its in neutral you hear loud popping sounds (louder than normal anyway) or even an occasional backfire from the exhaust.

Low rough idle after a freeway type of drive.

Extreme torque loss taking off from a dead stop (having to rev it a lot higher just to leave the red light).******

Ive messed with mine frequently, i have set my TPS once, but since have never messed with the tps after tweakin with the "stop screw". I have not noticed surging, idle issues, or poor gas mileage. Have never purposely "reset" the computer, though i have had the batter out atleast once since then. I guess i dont see what the fuss is, i have always done it this way, have seen it done this way for a long long time with no ill effects....
My dad being a mechanic by profession for more years than i have seen on this earth, he does not install a tuner to adjust the idle in the thousands of cars that have come through here, each leaves with no complaints, idle problems or anything else for that matter? what do u think that screw is there for? it was just to "stop" , it wouldnt be adjustable.

consider yourself lucky to not suffer from the "idle of death"...

<-- has it.

They do make a superchip...there is nothing super about it though. I'll laugh at you if you buy one.

The tuner is a "piggyback" system. It intercepts what is coming from the engine and leaving the computer and alters them to fit your needs (depending on what you program it to do). You can put a PE (or LA3, 8AU, PF3 or any other computer) .bin file in the tuner. Basically you can turn any tuner supported computer into any other supported computer. Of course if that's all you want then it's the most expensive way to do so.

I tuner won't fix your idle problems unless they are computer related...which they aren't ;)

No, it doesn't replace the ECU...it just alters the way it functions.

Maybe you should start a thread about your idle problem...if you did I didn't see it (somehow  )
