What should I get for my car first?

Looking for mods to a 95GT. What is the cheapest/best way to start?
Cold air intake, cat-back, headers, ... ???
I heard some of the mods people do are worthless, how do I get the most for my buck?

gears....follwed by a short throw....followed by underdrive pulleys...thats less than $500 worth of stuff(of course gears are EXPENSIVE and a half to have installed if you cant do it yourself) and you will think you have a brand new car...and take that advice because if you look at my mods you will see ive personally done none of those...and while my car is MUCH faster than it was stock...i wish i had done those 3 things already!

You should save up for a long time and get all your stuff done at once. Its hard to do, but its true that most modifications arent going to change your car dramatically by themselves. Only exceptions are turbo or superchargers and nitrous. If you really want to mod it now you should look into an exhaust system. But even headers, x/h-pipe,mufflers will not make a huge difference.
So start saving... or take out a loan for $7000 like me and do it all now and pay for it later.

I agree with Viper. Gears first if nothing else. I did see a good improvement when I installed my U/D pulleys and bumped the timing to 14*BTDC. This netted me .5sec faster in the 1/4mile. Another freebee is to remove the air silencer if its still there. But, if you plan to drive your stang hard at all then get a shifter with end stops. It will save your transmission from premature failure due to bending the shift forks.

Yah, Sleepy, I actually found my timing was set at 8* instead of 10* like it should have been. So that probaly explains the big increase.
