Right now my car has a 6500 rev limit and according to specs my intake makes its peak power at 6600. Basic operating range is 4000-7500rpm. I am trying to get a TwEEcEr to up my rev limit. But should I turn it anymore than 6800 or so?

unless you have a full blown race engine then, no. an dif you have stock heads they will never make power that high up in rpm anyways.

could you give us some specs on the engine? I have run up to 7400rpm with my 351w. I believe it stopped pulling before I hit that rpm. Long story on why I ran it that high. Anyways it really depends on if you plan on pulling it that high anyways and what you have actually built.

I would not recomend going to that kind of RPM, your camshaft will launch your valve train during IVO and have it come back crashing on the nose of your camshaft...this does not make the cam happy and will cause pre-mature camshaft failure. I have seen this first hand.

Intake tells us nothing. The cam tells you where to shift. Unless the heads are a bottle neck. Cam and head specs please.

Regardless of where it quits making power, you better be darn sure your valvetrain/lifters are up to the task.......

So I need a bigger cam to take advantage of my new intake?

The intake will pull to 7,500rpm. If you are thinking of anything that high I would be thinking solid roller. I personally would change the intake before I would change the cam.

What intake would you recommend? Everyone has told me that this is a mild cam so I figured I needed something bigger.

Do my numbers look ok? Its only the 2nd time at the track. First time ran 7.63@92 also. Best 60ft is 1.61
This is a full on street car.

what about retarding the cam 2 or 4 degrees...that would give you a little more on the top end.

I imagine you are in the ball park where it needs to be anyways. You may be able to sneak a few more RPM out of it.

Keep in mind, that that intake rpm range for the Victor 5.0 is based off 302 cubic inches if I recall. With 45 more cubes, it is going to pull the advertised powerband down.

A custom camshaft is always the best camshaft to have, but I have heard of that camshaft making some decent power if my memory serves me right. Those basic specs look familiar...

That is true about the advertised powerband. But when MMFF did a comparison with this intake, they used a 347 and peak power was at 6600rpm. But it was also a flat tappet 292 cam so idk.

I just think there is a little bit more in this combo. No matter what time I run, it still pulls a 91/92mph. Does this sound right? I think with good tires and a good launch I can get a 1.5x 60ft. I havent quite got the launch down yet. I am also debating putting 4.10s in.

That is what I am trying to say. With the increased cubes and the 302 powerband ranking, I would say it is going to drop the powerband down about 1,000 rpm. That is near the dyno results you are speaking of.

Then again, the engine's powerband is set by those top-end pieces and matching it all.

Have you ever had it dynoed to see what kind of power is actually hitting the rear wheels?

With some little changes here and there, you could gain 2-4 more mph with a little more effort.

What is your race weight? Are you running all accessories?

Good lord gear that thing, that needs some 4.10's like nobodies business. Also that setup will pull strong to 7,000 I would pill it for 7 and shift at about 6,700. Get the 4.10's first!!!!

Its got a superchip in it. My rev limit is 6500. I have a 6AL with no pill in it. Does the rev limit come from the computer or can it be overridden by the 6AL? Yeah I need gears bad. The guy who had it before me said 3290lbs with him in it. Im not running the A/C or smog. It has an electric fan.

if they upped it in the tune it is problably a fuel cut not a soft touch spark cut, you will have to get a SCT dealer to remove it and use the MSD

I would rev it about 6500 maybe up to 6700. If this is just a race car or a weekend warrior, I also agree with punisher on the 4.10's.
