Ok so I would like to know what my next modification should be? I would like to know what everyone think's would do the most and be help me get father in my project. Everything I do need's to be cheap

So here is what I have been thinking about doing-

  1. Painting and installing my rear sway bar
  2. Un hooking the knock Sensor
  3. Buy and Install new Front sway bar end links
  4. Re do my short ram intake and make it a CAI
  5. Try to find a ford Ranger and get the header off of it
  6. Get new rear suspension
  7. or anything else you think I should do and how much it cost.

I need it to be cheap as h**l because I have almost no money. So yeah, and also tell me how...

Go to a junkyard and get a roller camshaft out of an 89-97 Ranger or 91-93 Mustang.

Considering the the Ranger roller cam is milder than even the turbo slider cams........yes.

I didn't see anything really worth doing on the mod list considering you didn't tell us what your plans are for the car.

what i would is get a turbo and a turbo manifold off a 83-88 tc/or off a merkur xr4ti and run it at 6-8 pounds of boost i see these turbo's go for $50-100 bucks and manifolds go for 25-50 on ebay then all u ahve to do is run your oil lines and take the car to a exhaust shop and have them make exhaust for it the hardest part of doing this is the oil drain line u ahve to drill a hole in the oil pan and weld a pipe on it but befor u drill it u will want to go to walmart and buy those magnets tthat make noise and put them on the oil pan to chatch the metal shavens. i'm 16 years old and i ahve a 87 coupe mustang i just done this too a week ago the car runs great but right now it isn't b/c the pipe that goes from the EGR valve is missing and we will have to make one but other than that it's a great mod and has a lot more power it's costed us about 100-150 so far but exhaust is going to cost us around $200 dollars so for $300-350 dollars u will have almost has much power as a stock 5.0 also if your car is an automatic u will want to run it at 6 pounds of boost i ahve a 5 speed and i'm running it at 8 pounds if u decide to do this and u have any problems just contact me at twsummertown@peoplepc.com

Wow, a whole sentence and not a single piece of puncuation was used. I am impressed...

What are you doing for engine management? Unless you have a way to add fuel and take out timing, you just built a time bomb. I put a turbo on my NA engine as well, but I swap in a turbo computer, injectors, and air meter. It worked great until a vacuum hose popped off the FPR, and it went lean. It broke the rings in one cylinder.

Even with a proper tune, it is still not a great idea to put a turbo on an NA engine, when it's so easy to swap out the short block. We'll see how long yours lasts without a tune...

No, you won't. You'll have a fragile 140hp 2.3.

Cripes, putting turbo pistons in a 2.3NA longblock would be easier than a 5.0 swap.

Hate to break it to you, but Red is right. I used pretty much all factory and junk yard parts and my full weight mustang went high 12s. The most expensive single part on my car were the nitto drag radials, at 150$ each. And I did this on the factory computer, no tune, stock turbo, ect. I bought a used nitrous kit for very cheap and knocked it down to 12.20's on just a 40 shot.

You don't know what you're talking about, but I would like you to elaborate on these statements anyway.

well it wouldn't be cheap but it wouldn't be expensive a 5.0 motor $250 wireing harness $75-100 motor mounts $50 shorty headers $75 twin turbos off a turbo coupe or merkur $150-200 24 pound injectors $100, 255 lph fuel pump,100 lph inline, 8.8 rear $100-150 suspension work $300-$600 or more, the most expensive part would be the trans a c4 or c6 fully rollerized, 8 piont cage, haveing the computer chipped, and a few other what nots i would buy my stuff all my stuff used and it would be a whole lot cheaper. my dads buddy has a 89 hatch car and done a setup simular to this one and ran 10.30's in a quater if he would of sparyed it it would of easily ran 9's

You just perfectly explained why it would not be cheaper to do a 5.0TT swap. 24lb injectors on a 500+hp engine? I won't even go there.
