OK, I just bought my first 5.0 Fox and it is a 1989 Vert. I'm going to be doing some basic maintance/conditioning stuff. One thing is tires, but I'm not sure what size to get... It has 240/50/16's on it now w/ the 5-star pony rims. The car is stock and will most likey stay close, minus some bolt ons for the length of these tires ( most likely anyway) so what size do you'll run on your stangs... thanks

240/50/16? Do you mean 245/50/16's


Stock is 225/55/16. Most guys tend to run a 245/50/16 with no probs. A few have done 255's out back

I'm currently running 245/50's and I hate them. I had 225/50's and it looked better, handled MUCH better, didnt rub, etc. I hate these fuggin tires.

Why do you hate the 245/50/16s?

This may be a bit off topic for your question because it doesnt concern tires...but especially for a vert get some subframes welded on there for your first mod.

Because they are sloppy and mushy. I also dont like the additional height in the profile. I just dont like them, at all.

I like the staggered sizes. 225/50's on the front and 245/50's in the back.

What brand tires?


It may have more to do with the brand rather than just the size?
