What sound do spun bearings make?

I gotta tell you, there is a sound coming from the engine that is bothering me. It sounds like a whiring sound, that's pretty loud, and kinda sounds like metal on metal.

Am I just freakin' out or what? I dont trust any shop near me to take it to.
If anyone has any ideas, pleez reply. Thanx.

To determine for sure, while the engine is running, remove and replace each plug wire one at a time. If the noise stops after your remove the wire then you have a bad bearing in that cylinder.

Alot of noises in the engine bay reverberate through the entire bay. I had a noise I thought was coming from the engine that turned out being the alternator going bad.

It's always been my understanding that a spun bearing is a knock, due to the increased clearance. Hopefully it's just one of the accessories making noise, not an engine bearing.
