My gauge cluster needs replaced and Iv found a used one but didn't know if I should get one with close to same miles. I know some cars the cluster its self stores the miles and others it doesn't.

It might help to mention the model year of your car. The 1996-1998 cluster has a mechanical Odometer where as the 1999-2004 is electronic. Which do you have?

There's a daughter board that can be transplanted between old/new. This will also help with PATS.

Also consider sending the unit out to United Radio as they are very good at repair/replacing clusters. May have to find a dealer. http://www.unitedradio.com/

However here's some information may help you fix the one that you have.

Cluster PC foil trace repair. How to fix intermittent cluster foil trace repair 1999-2004.

Ok thanks a lot. So if I do find a used one or possibly a Mach 1 cluster with the same miles or a little more can I just swap it in with no problems?

That's what I didn't know for sure. You have to have the dealer reprogram it correct?

Short answer. Yes. Research Ford Factory PATS. It has been covered TONS of times.

That's why it's generally easier it fix the cluster that you have.
