I think its about time I replace mine. With the car lowered so much with my springs, the factory shocks and struts with 110k miles on them have taken a beating and I think my car will ride ALOT smoother with new ones. SHould I just take the cheap way out for now and get ones from pep boys since I work there and can get a discount, or should I invest some money into them. My reason for getting cheap now would be cost factor, and not having $450 for bilsteins right now. What do you think? Thanx

PepBoys carries the Gabrial line, not bad OE replacement shocks. They will be a whole lot better than the worn out OEM's on there now, both in ride quality and performance. I have KYB's, they are a step up, and much firmer, but they give a harsher ride than other brands.

There are middle of the road shocks such as Tokico and the upper end of KYB's.

I actually took out my Sportlines and stowed them away until I can get some Bilsteins. The ride is boaty, but smooth, hooks alot better though. I miss the awesome cornering, but it gives me incentive to work for them.

the Tockiko blues are pretty decent price, and are a good performance shock/strut for the money. They are like having the 5 way illuminas set at a level 3
