so, I can get a 65, 70, or 75 for $120 (+ shipping of course ) polished as well... mods are in sig, but planning on porting my intake very soon... don't think I'll be doing anything major on the engine internals soon at least... which size

Considering the stock intake opening is only 65mm I would get a 65mm. But for real man your not going to get a big gain. 1-4 HP maybe.

You dont need a TB now, money is spent elseware. You also dont want that chineese made garbage TB either. Why buy a 65mm now when down the road and you have real mods and you'll be better off with a 70 or 75mm? (depending what your manifold inlet is) YOur dyno numbers seema bit high for what you have listed and certainly dont corrolate with your trap speed.

I have a 65mm accufab tb and egr im selling from my 92 if your interested.

With your basic mods, anything larger than a 65mm will actually hurt performance, rather than improve it.Not to mention that your throttle response will be non-existent.Even with HCI combos,70 is more than adaquate. To make the most out of ANY combo, your TB should match your manifold inlet diameter, bigger isn't always better.Unless you plan on doing some major mods in the near future, don't waste you time. You only see real gains with forced induction anyways.

The best thing that you could buy right now, would be a good set of gears.....altleast you'd be able to feel that bolt-on.

yeah, I know bigger isn't always better the people I talk to in person always say 70, but that just seemed too big. the main reason this was brought on was I have horrible hanging rpms, and can't adjust the TB to get them to drop quickly... and then this deal came along, so I toyed w/ the idea.

-I do know I probably won't gain much if anything from it (probably loose gas milage too ) thnx for the info though...

-you know, most people would take that as an insult (I kinda took that as you're calling me a liar... so I'd assume you didn't check out my website where the pic of the timeslip and dyno sheets are listed...)

Viperos, use your money for gears right now. Put in a set of 3.55's or 3.73's and you'll see a huge difference in the way the car performs. As for the HP numbers, I was there when he made those numbers, so I can vouch for him. Just because he can't drive, doesn't mean his car doesn't perform!

um, thanks... I think (btw, I'd like to see someone else run what I have on some street tires --> no traction, but the HP is there)

-btw, I'm not looking for a large gain from the TB (and yes, definetly, gears are comming up, I'm arranging a deal through a local contact for $200 cash, the gears and basic install kit from summit (or whereever) but that won't happen until after winter )

Not all dyno's are created equal. Thats why I (as well as many others) dont take them as gospel. For the limited mods you have, your dyno read a bit high. More importantly, it certainly doesnt corrolate to your trap speeds. If you did in fact make that power, i'd expect over 100mph traps. I have a friend with similar stuff as you (longtubes and pulleys) and he runs just about 100mph traps and he definatly isnt making over 215hp. 14.13 @ 99.9 on stock 273 and 17" street tires. Not calling you a liar, I just feel that dyno is a bit off taking into consideration what the REAL dyno said (the track)

LIke i've stated a million times, match your TB to the inlet of the manifold and if you have a decent h/c/i package, port the inlet and run the 75mm. Right now you dont need a tb, but I do have my accufab 65mm tb/egr for sale from my 92

well, the REAL dyno is off... I can't get any traction while launching... either I bog unbelievably, and run what I did, or I spin out... once I get some traction, then my times should reflect my dyno numbers, if they don't, then I have some conflicting proof

-but, back to the origional question (slightly altered) how do I get rid of my hanging RPMs? you seem to know quite a bit about TBs, from what I hear... any ideas?

Viperos I think the reason they doubt your dyno because the trap speed in your 1/4 time is low. I saw in your profile that you have run 98.5mph, which is about right.

Oh, and the only $130 TB I know of is the Professional Products, and they are not known to be the best. Save up a couple more bucks and get the FMS 65mm TB. It comes with new electronics also.

alright... thnx jt... btw, I didn't adjust that screw under the white cap, just the screw bottom that's on the left side of the engine bay (the car's right hand side)... is there some tool I can buy, or something??

Your idle hangs with the stock TB, correct? First try cleaning out the IAC and spray some TB cleaner in the TB as well. A hanging idle is normal when your rolling in neutral and it should go down when you stop. Try my advice and let us know.

I meant the trap speed doesn't corrolate with the dyno numbers, 233hp/295tq would equal over 100mph. I'd do gears and drag radials as your next mods! I hope you dont think im flaming you, because I certainly wasn't.

Not with stock gears I dont see that being more than what he has trapped. I have 221rwhp/288rwtq and only trap 98.5mph very consistently, and I have gears.

when i first installed my BBK 65mm TB i had really bad hanging idle at about 2,000 rpms. i turned the screw in (was out about 6 turns ) all the way and only opend it back up about 1/4-1/2 a turn and no more hanging idle.

worth a try atleast

alright... I'll give it a try guys... thnx for the advice

-I cleaned out the MAF and TB last week, as regular maintinence, didn't help, but my gas milage went up

-grn92, no problem man, I didn't quite take it like that, just that you didn't believe me and my numbers, but it's all good, sooner or later, I'll get to show you what my car is all about (then again, maybe NY is a bit far away )

EDIT: here's what I did to my TB... the green circle (DUH ) was slightly adjusted, not all is out of wack...

I had hanging idle problems real bad with my stock tb. I cleaned it, while it was on the car, with some carb cleaner (sensor/injector safe) and it went away.

well, that screw didn't adjust my idle I'm thinking my computer adjusted for it or something...

-so, ok, took apart the TB, and HELLA cleaned it... was virtually nothing dirty in there! I got rid of two of my problems, the two that aren't that big of a deal, and didn't realize they were problems until now (my TB plate was slightly (very very slightly) catching the edge of the housing when closed, so my pedal would stick a tiny bit when cold) and my rpms now drop just fine when not in gear (I mean, reving it up)

-so, much better, but not perfect... oh well, I'll just live with it. thanks again guys
