Alrighty as some of yall know I bought a 73 fast back on deployment and I finally got to tearing into it. The engine is not the original 2v but a cammed 4v and what is bothering me is the tranny only has 3 clicks to it and no guide for what is what and as a side notr all the rockers are tightened to spec but 4 of the arms are loose is that normal for a cam? the under hood wireing harness needs to be replaced still. The old burned up carb (600 cfm holly) was replaced with a new (650 cfm) holly that I just happened to have on hand for a rainy day.

So, you are tearing into the engine for a look? Or have you had it running yet? How loose is loose? The lifters probably bled down from sitting so long. As far as the shifter goes, it should only be a 3 speed automatic, Park, Reverse, Nuetral, Drive, 2L 1L. So,Click reverse, click across neutral, would put you in drive. If it has an aftermarket shifter, there may be something you have to lift up on the handle to get the shifter to go into the next lower gears...

Depending on what stle of hurst shifter, it may be a button.....If the engine isn't apart, the lifters should pump back up on their own..
Is your shifter on this page?

That black button on the side, is what you would have to push, to get the auto trans into 2L and 1L...
Is that shifter sloppy left to right?? That boot doesn't belong on there...
