What tires do you run?

I need some new rear tires for my 17x8 cobras and was wanting to know what other people used and liked or disliked. My mustang sees a lot of street time with an occassional trip to the 1320.

I run Falken Ziex. PIECES OF ****. Uhhhh I drive like a grandmother most of the time and these tires are almost bald after 3 times to the dragstrip and a few SHORT burnouts. They have around 7k miles on them, I rotated them and everything AVOID.

i have used nitto drags out back for the past 4 years & love them. good street tire, kinda meh at the track. that's why you get ET Drags though

I find that hard to believe... I have a friend that has them on his 67 nova with a 406 that runs consistant 11:50's and after 3 years of cruising and nearly a hundred passes at the track, they still arent bald... so either your not being honest, or the set you got had a bad batch of rubber (wich I also find hard to believe). the ziex are a great middle of the range tire. I recomend toyo T1R's or Nittos both great tires, both are great on wet and dry pavement, I've heard good things about the new bfg kdw as well.

im running fuzion zri's and believe it or not, they have been awesome. 245/45/17s i got for $95 a piece and they have lasted me a year of hard street driving. they hook decent with 290ish rwhp, handle well, drive awesome in the rain and still have alot of life. they are absolute crap at the track, it was like bald tires in the rain, but as for street the shop i bought them from said they are the same compound and similar tread design to some high end firestone, and he told the truth because my buddy ended up buying said firestones later on and i ran his wheel tire comob on my car and it was the exact same. definitely the best bang for the buck tires i have ran. our kb blown 85 gt is running bfg dr's and they hook amazing but have a s#itty tread life. im going with falken next i think...the "drift" tire

Lol good one... I havent made the purchase yet but I will be running 275/40/17's in the back and 245/45's Nitto 555's soon as the weather breaks for good. I have heard nothing but good things about them and the price is right.

IM Currently Running Micky thompsons, My Car is Street only.. They are Great, unless your stuck in the rain, Then your Back end goes all over the place... But i have a Leak in the driver side, and when i get my taxes back im not sure if ill be replacing the MT's... thought about Running the Kuhmo Ecsta ? ithink it is? not sure somthing like that But only cuz i cant afford Another Set of MT's.. (Mickys).. personlly i love the Street Cheaters.. They are the Closest thing to a Drag radical that is still called a Street tire!..

Oh you can trust me, I wouldn't forget how I've treated them. For paying 105 bucks a tire, I expect more. Whatever you say, these tires still suck.

Oh yea anyone had any expirience with Hankook?

i run sumitomo's on all 4 corners. 275/40/17's up front and 315/35/17's in the rear. You really can't beat them for the price. I actually just bought two 315's for $232 shipped to my house from tire rack and they'll be here in a day or 2

I've got the same tires here and they're almost bald after 1 summer. This is also with zero trips to the track and zero burnouts. Don't know what gives, but all I can say is that I'm not getting these again.

well I deal with them on a daily basis and I hardly ever see any with premature wear problems, maybe were not talking about the same tire and btw 105 a tire isnt expensive. Wich hankooks are you looking at?

I run the falken ze 512s 245/50/16. For the money they have served me well. They don't wear worth crap, but they hook pretty dang good for the price. I cut a 1.90 60' with only kyb struts and shocks as the sole suspension mods. I'm going to probably step up to drag radials next time though, but for the price I'll say these are some good tires. Dad got these for me for 340 bucks, your cost would be a little more.

I've got the H-rated version of the Fuzion tires (HRi's) in stock-sized 225/60/R15. I get the same results with mine - total crap for traction at the track (I thought it was just the narrow width of my size, but maybe not), but they're AWESOME for daily driving. They've got a really nice sidewall to 'em that doesn't ride like total crap but still helps out with handling a LOT, and they don't hydroplane all over the place when it's pouring Monsoon season rains out here.

I'll probably pick up another set of 'em when these wear out, although I might go a size or two wider to see if it helps at all with launch traction (and to help correct for my speedo reading about 7mph too fast on the highway). Especially for the price, they're pretty darn good tires.

I've also had really good luck in the past with Firehawk Indy tires. They're not too pricey, either, and even though they don't look flashy like a lot of the "Ultra High Performance" type tires, they're awesome on a daily driver AND they hook well at the track. Not as resistant to hydroplaning as the V-grooved tires are, but still not bad at all, and they're actually pretty good in snow, too. (Been through two sets of 'em on two different cars when I lived in the Midwest.)

i ride roadhugger GT-D's 245/50/16 on the stock ponys, tires are garbage. 1st is completely useless, makes launching the car a pipe dream

I just bought a set of 17x8 cobra R's used for $100 so I don't take a risk at trashing my pro stars on the street. The rear has 275/50/17's and 255/50/17 up front, all tires are made by goodyear and hook fairly decent on my fox =]
