What to buy ?

Hello !!

I'm new to this site (pretty nice by the way )

I'm looking into buying a mustang. i have a budget of about 13k and I have seen a lot of 97-98 cobras, and 99-01 Gt's for that price.

Now which one to get ? I don't want to heavily mod the car since it'll be daily driven, but I do want to hit mid 13's.

I could just get a 98 cobra but they are pretty high mileage, in the other hand the 99-01 GT are newer, fresher but much slower.

What is you guys opinion ?

a 99+ GT is just as fast as a 96-98 Cobra in the 1/4. after that tho, the Cobra will beat it. but how often are you going to be going over 100mph?

I would get the cobra. Stock vs stock a newer GT will stay pretty close, but as soon as you start doing any simple mods to the cobra, it will eat up the gt and spit it out.

Plus, if you settle for a GT, you will allways wonder.. 'Should I have gotten a cobra instead?" Get the cobra and love it

Hey, good question. I am 19 and just faced the same question back in january. I went with a 96 cobra. found it on mysticcobra.net. I love the mystic, and just the fact its a cobra. my buddy bought a 2001 Gt a month later. I am completely satisfied with my choice, and wouldnt change, so is he. At the track i will get hime by .3 r so average. so its pretty much a good choice either way. O yeah, i still get 24 mpg, and im not to sure what he gets.
