what to do for lowering my 2002GT + pics?

i am a noobie at the late model stangs, and i am wanting to lower my '02GT. i dont kno what the recomended height is, 1.5 or 2 inches. please post any pics so i can have something to refrence, and which kit to use. thanks

You are just going to pick a height. I went with h&r just because they were in between prokit, and sportline. Realistically the prokit is as low as you want to go, but for most of us normal, or the usual is blah! 1.5=prokit, 2(atleast)sportline, H&R SS claim 1.75 front and 1.6 rear drop, however I got atleast 2 inches with the ss springs up front. If you go too low you have to start thinking about headers, wheels and tires, body kits, and of course speed bumps. oh man, i didnt kno i was going to have to get all those plates and steering equipment. so what all do i need to do if i wanted to lower it 2 infront and 1.5 in back? how much do you think it will cost? oh and White Stang, looks awesome!!

I used the C springs and I did not have to use new cc plates. I just swapped springs

I like my Steeda Sports. They dont lower it a ton, but you dont want to go more than 2". Going more than that messes with the suspension geometry and can actually make you car handle worse.

Make sure to get CC plates & some quality shocks to match the stiffer springs.

The CC plates give more room for adjustment then the stock plates. Sometimes when the car is lowered the front end can't be brought back into specs with the stock CC plates because thet can't move far enough. Plus, I think some of the aftermarket plates have a bit of a hieght adjustment so you can set up the struts without worrying about them bottoming out.

Edit: And yes..they stand for Caster/Camber.

I have Eibach sportlines,and needed C&C plates,and also installed rack offset bushings,and next will be struts.

Yep, caster / camber - they allow much more adjustment than the OEM ones. When you drop the front more than 1.5", the alignment is thrown out of whack more than can be adjusted with the stock pieces. This is general info, not written in stone. Some have dropped less and had alignment problems, while others have dropped more and were able to get it aligned without C/C plates.

Thanks for the compliments! Mine is lowered with H&R Super Sport Springs and it's down 1.75" in the front and 1.6" in the back, with the stock isolators in. I really like the drop I did a lot of looking around the forum before I figured out which springs to get and I remember seeing this red GT with them in and the moment I saw that picture I knew those were the springs I had to have. It's not to much of a drop where it looks weird, I think it looks like how the cars should have come day 1! I have a set of Maximum Motorsport cc plates on the way, should be here Monday/Tuesday this week. I took my car in to get an alignment done and they couldn't get it in spec so I ordered a set of plates. The MM ones seem to be pretty popular, cause you totally wanna get the 4-bolt ones.
