Cool. Are you shutting the car down immediately following a WOT blast at full boost in order to check the plug ground straps for heat? If so, then I'd say you have your finger on the pulse of what's actually happening and stick with what's working for you. That said, 15psi is quite a bit of boost, and I imagine you're making really good power... like 500+. So, it's not something to take for granted. 3923s have worked in a couple of my boosted applications & my nitrous'd daily driver without any driveability issues on the street. I run NGKs in by high boost applications. I have fouled them on an initial tune when going way too rich.

Back to your topic, with turbos on stock shortblocks, running a lot of cam never made a whole lotta sense to me. The turbo will make the power for ya. Big overlap can be counterproductive with all the exhaust backpressure. That's the great thing about turbos, IMO... given a displacement & specified power level, they don't need as much cam and/or boost as a supercharger or NA application.

It's a fun car. I bet it's closer to 425-450ish. Sucks on gas mileage. Is there a down side having to cold if a plug?? But yea these cars love boost. I ta amazing how good they run when they don't starve for air up top.

What's your thoughts on changing the oil pan gasket with the motor in??? I've seen both answers. And pulling it is easy.

Too cold a plug doesn't effectively burn off carbon deposits. So, they build up until the plug fouls, which causes misfiring. If that doesn't happen, I don't think there are any other downsides. I guess it could make reading the plug for optimal timing more difficult.

I don't really have any thoughts on the oil pan. The only time I've changed em was with the engine out of the car. Never tried to do it in the engine bay.

15 psi from an efficient turbo should double the power output. Is your setup intercooled? Hard to believe the combo you described would make less than 225 rwhp N/A.

I guess I don't get the gas mileage thing, either. My 302 with the e-cam gets 20-22 on average. My turbo 331 with a 228/224 cam gets about the same.

If he would get his foot out of it the mpg would be better. My NA 331 gets horrible gas mileage but I didn’t build it to idle around. Highway it makes 21-22 but in and around the metro it’s single digits.

I think I'll try the 3923's it's worth a shot. And I got a Canton oil pan for like 100$ thought it was a good deal until it was 175$ in a pick up and dipstick. But I'm still not complaining. But I I gotta check more to even see if it's leaking.

I do have an intercooler. It's a basic on3 kit 70mm turbo. Just before I put it up for the winter I bought a flash arc hot side. So it's all shiny and new. But and and ready to rock and roll.

And I never really checked my mpg's but it's not a big tank either. That's probably the worst of it.

I'd love a nice stroker build. 0 balanced it and send it. I do have a 351w I'm just a couple years from starting to Build it.

No need for a stroker. You can split the block with that 70mm turbo. 351 will be nice, as the block supports 700+ to the wheels.

Will a roller 351W block support that much?

From what I've read for years, that's what folks say. Early block is still better with thicker webs, like the early 302s. I probably would avoid it with a blower, but with a turbo, I'd go for it. I've always been a 302 guy, though.

If you watch neo mustang on you tube he's pushing 1000hp out of a 408 0 balanced with a big turbo. And probably 20-30 1/4 no prep races a year. Some street driving. Stock block just good internals. The main bearings on a 351w are a lot bigger about big block size. It's a great platform.

Also I won an e303 cam. I'm getting ready to install it. I only got 100 more projects to do first. But I'm hammering them out.

So my question is the ecam is ground with 110* advance. Would it be worth advancing/retarding it on my crank shaft (my timing chain has +4, 0, -4, spots in it. I'd love to pick up some low end power.

And would doing this hurt anything up top as far stress on the engine??? The cam only makes power till 6200 so it says. But spinning it past with a turbo efficiency shouldn't be a problem right??
