I have had my automatic 01 GT for a little over 2 years now. It’s been a great car but I love the idea of a 4v and the potential they have. I’ve been looking at 96-98 cobras (I found a few with low miles for around 10-$13k), 01 cobras (found a few with low miles for around 13-$17k). My issue is I could probably sell my car for around 11k (I have just over 60,000 miles on her) and If I could buy a cobra for 10-12k I relay don't lose anything and I gain a great motor and hp over what I have. I was planning on getting cams, dyno tune, wheels rims and a few other mods this spring for my car (probably around $3,000 in mods). When all said and done I might be putting out what a stock 96-01 cobra puts out. What would you guys do? Should I keep my car and mod or stop now and get a cobra in the spring?

At least it's more erect and not floppy anymore.

I'd say get the Cobra, it def has more potential because of the 4v over the 2v. But I know it will be a tough choice to sell your GT because you did a lot to it.

If your gonna upgrade then upgrade. I would never look into an older car than what I have, selling your car for a 96-98 Cobra would be a downgrade IMO. Im not saying that they arent nice cars but your going back another 3-5 years. If you really want a new car keep saving and get a 05 GT or 03/04 Cobra.

If I were you I would take that $3k and put it towards a blower, screw the NA crap.

Cobras are just fun cars. I say get one If you get a 96 keep the stock cams, they make more power than any other cam on a N/A 4 valve. How low are the miles at thoes prices, most 96-98 I see go for 7-9K. I got mine in July for $6000 and I would not trade her for anything

The 97 cobra has 39k on it and its selling for 12k (could probably get him down to 10k). I will see what happens in the spring. I just think of it as this, I sell my car, the cobra will put down more power stock as my car makes right now. With the 3k for the cams, rims, wheels and other things I was going to do in the spring that would put me about equal with the performance of a cobra. I could put that 3k towards an 01 cobra or maybe even a used 05GT.
