What tranny fluid is good, What should I be using??

Im buying my friends t-5 cuz my 3rd gear went in mine...its on its way now to my house without fluid...what is a good fluid I should use in it? What does it call for...Dexron Mercon 3 right? I think Ive heard GM syncromesh is good but i would rather stick with the atf, and I dont think I should use synthetics since its got about 65k on it now. Whats everybodys opinion?? I also would use some cheap conventional Mercon for now. See how it feels and tailor fluid accordingly.

lol at first i was thinking he was DRIVING with teh t5 without fluid, i was like "OOOOOOMG OUCH"

just imagining it is kind of scary
