What type of suspension set-up?

So. Cal.
For Christmas I'm starting suspension mods. My first two priorities are UPR Pro-Series Adjustable Upper and Lower Control Arms. Next, I would like to get some shocks/struts and some springs. But I'm not sure if I should go with Tokico Adjustables, Strange Adjustables, Mach 1's, Bullits? Also, I'm not sure if I should go with V8 rears and 4 cyl. fronts, or Ford Racing B or C springs.

I would like to keep this a pretty streetable set-up as I only see the track once or twice a month. So the ability to adjust from strip to street would be nice or for an all around performance. Also, my ride quality as of right now sucks and I would like to improve it along with getting rid of the 4X4 look. Thanks.

what kind of racing are you planning on doing? i wouldnt touch UPR for suspensions personally. either go with griggs or maximum motorsports. they make the best road racing suspensions money can buy.
Interesting opinion of UPR, seeing how their Pro Series suspension components are used on more winning FFW, NMRA and WFC cars than all their competitiors combined. KenB, the fastest N/A 2V uses their stuff. Seems good enough for me!
UPR has gotten a bad rap for various reasons, but the facts above are just that - FACTS!
Baller760 stated street or strip, so I don't think road racing is what he's looking for.
Baller760, take a look at this thread - Five Components to a 12 second NA GT
You're on the right path - from your list, your best weight transfer would come from Fox V8 rears and Fox 4 cyl fronts, then probably B's (which is what I'm planning for my 02) B's fronts are progressive. I've also got the Strange 10 ways on my list as well. (With the Fox 4 cyl fronts, you'll get great lift, but streetability will suffer) I'm in the same boat as you it seems. I'm not looking for a major drop-just need to get rid of the 4X4 look. I also want decent ride, decent handling and good weight transfer. I think the B's are the best choice.
Here's another useful link - Chad's 2K GT - Mustang Coil Spring Reference
Chad's got a wealth of info on his site. This link is directly to the Coil Spring Reference Page.
Best of Luck...let me know what you do and how it turns out. Sounds like we could trade some notes. :nice:

No problem, I'll let you know by Christmas. But I still don't quite get spring rates and what they have to do with everything. Is the less the spring rate up front the better? and the more in the rear? What's good for weight transfer forward?

Well I am no expert, and I won't pretend to be one. I've done more reading that drag racing. It's confusing when you look at the rates, and you'd think less spring rate up front would be the way to go...but that's not necessarily true. What you don't want is the front end so low that it can't lift and transfer weight. That's where adjustable struts or drag struts come into play. When you see drag struts called "90/10s," this means 90 percent of their resistance is in compression (bump) and 10 percent is in extension (rebound). This allows the shock to extend rapidly and not restrict the nose of the car from lifting, then slowly settle back down to ride height after the car is launched.
For a daily driver, I'd look at Tokico 5 way adjustables or Strange Engineering 10 way adjustables (these are pretty cheap at $66 each for shocks and $111 for struts!)
Take a look at the www.maximummotorsports.com "street & strip" and "launch" setups. You can buy all this stuff individually or mix and match. I wouldn't recommend drag struts for a daily driver, but you can get similiar results from the adjustable struts listed above-no, not the same results, but similiar. Then you can tighten it up to drive on the street.

i recommend maximum motorsports. request a catalog :nice:
OK, from where? I don't see anything on their website to request a catalog...?
I agree, they have awesome, quality stuff. :nice: But UPR is more reasonably priced and is the top choice for the fastest cars. Hard to argue with that  :hail2:
