I believe GM Syncromesh ATF fluid is the choice of those in the know - that's what I'm using next weekend on my wife's 01.

I use Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF. When I retofitted one (from a newly wrecked '93 GT) into my '65 convert. 155,000 miles ago I started using it. I change it every year and the trans still shifts like new. The '01 GT convert. gets it now too.

there are drain and fill plugs on the transmission itself. just use mobil 1 aft for fluid and you are good to go.

The drain hole is pretty obvious on the bottom of the tranny. However you will have to find a way to get the new fluid up into the top of the tranny. It is quite cramped up there.

I used Mobil 1 ATF with a squeeze bulb hand pump from walmart. Found the pump in Walmart's auto section. The fluid should be pretty easy to find. Fill should be about 3.5-3.7 quarts.
