what type of tranny fluid in the tremec?

I was just wandering what type of tranny fluid do I put in my tremec? do I still use Dexcron III Automatic tranny fluid like I did in my T-5?

They recomend that GM syncromesh stuff. Built ford tuff with GM stuff...

like already stated 3qts of GM syncromesh, go right to your local GM and expect to pay $7-$10 a qt. dont mess with pennzoil crap that im sure someone on here will recommend

I can usually find the stuff in the local autozones.

Tremec does say you can use either or, but the Synchromesh will definitely make a difference.

I emailed Tremec a week ago about which fluid to use, because I was interested in Red Line synthetics. Here's what they said:

"Our recommended fluid for the TR3550 family is GM synchromesh. Due to
the materials internally, we have not tested any other fluids. "

might be nice if you knew which type of GM synchromesh....

when i bought my tremec from holcomb i told them that i wanted the recommended fluid for the tko 500 and they sent me royal purple synchromax tranny fluid. so thats what im gonna stick with...and if it hurts it than holcomb is gonna be givin me a new one

just go to your local GM dealer and tell them you need 3qts of syncromesh, yup its that easy pennzoil DOES make syncromesh but im not convinced its the same stuff, so get it at your local dealer

i am at the point of having to change the fluid in mine.its been a little notchier then i like running gm synchromesh.has anyone had good luck with the redline stuff?i want smother shifting if possible,but i dont want to hurt the trans either.ive heard a couple of people say sychromax,mtl,or synthetic atf from royal purple.so are any of these any good?
