well what are your other mods? cobra intake will add some but without the proper throttlebody and mass air not as much as it should, also if you have a cobra intake its just sending more air to get choked through the stock heads. Every mod leads to another one you cant just throw on one mod and expect gobs of horsepower w/o supporting parts

yes i understand that. Im going to be getting CNC ported cobra heads eventually so that should help out the intake some more. But basically this is my first mod on the car. Im really looking forward to putting it in.

what stang2841 said, do you have any other mods. it is more likely you will loose some low end torque and gain a little up high.

What do you mean by Cobra heads, GT40's right? You should be able to pull a '91 Z28 stock for stock. The Cobra intake alone won't do very much. If you do the heads too, you'll notice a good increase. MAF, TB, intake, heads... then you will really pick up.

you should be able to blow him away not just keep up with him, a cobra intake, GT40 heads, exhaust, gears and a WELL picked cam should be able to destroy him and most anything else on the road with a capable driver

Blow him away.. Id say no. Its all up to the Mustang driver as the Z28 will be an auto and will be less driver error possible. The 350 cars run hard and will run mid 14s (as long as its well kept and runs good). A stock 5.0 should as well but as we have all seen some have gone as slow as 16s, some come close to and will crack a high 13. I wouldnt bet all too much on it yet...

And as far as the GT-40 headed car destroying most stuff on the road... where do you live? Maybe every day driving yes but those people dont race. If you mean in the race scene, no. A mid 12 second car (assuming he can drive) is not much these days! I wouldnt want to get his hopes up just yet. Not many people run great times first shot!

mid 12's is a pretty good street car IMO

now its not something you can run your mouth to everybody with or race down at my area or you'll get your ass handed to you.

just to me thats a good place to be with a daily driven car without serious money thrown into it

I agree with Stang2841, you put the cobra on your just going to stuff more air in there to be choked on thru the heads. The e7s will flow with the cobra on the intake side but the exhaust side is your major restriction. I'd save the intake and put it on with the heads in the future.

Really? how come every site i've looked at has bombarded me with this relentless 15.3. This is my first stick shift car so im not a crazy shifter yet. I just would be really overjoyed if i could beat him, keep up with him if anything. His car does have a stage 1 shift kit in it that will chirp both tires.

Is your car a 5 speed and do you have any track experience?? If you are any good at all at launching your car, you should tow him all the way down the track. Stock mustangs have been beating up on these cars since they came out!!!!! Just practice your launches and don't let us down

lol ill do my best, but i can't launch that well because of the tire. I have bfg comp t/a's on them but they break loose launching at 1500. Im going to do a burnout one time for one pass to see what she really has but only once because i want to save my tires. Mine is a 5 speed. Ive been to the track one time in my v6 automatic. Loved every second of the 17 second passes

Ok the tires arent the issue. You should be able to cut in the 2.0-2.1 range, as I have run junk street radials before and found a way to hook. You wont be doing this first time out, but with practice it is possible!

As far as 15s and 13s and such. it is all in driver, track, and the car. An 87-88 notch in cold weather at sea level with a great driver could hit a high 13. A GT vert in crap weather with an AOD wont see anywhere near that!

Id say good luck with the Z28 as they are faster cars then a lot of Mustang guys want to admitt... You could take him, just get some practice in first!

Stock heads flow ~160cfm.
Stock intake flows ~135cfm
Cobra intake flows ~200cfm.

A Cobra intake on a stock motor should be worth ~15hp amd ~2/10ths in the quater mile.
You will not need a larger TB to take advantage of the Cobra intake, but a larger MAM would be benificial. For a mostly stock motor, 76mm C'n'L seems to work good.

If both cars are in good shape, and you shift handy to 5200 you should walk the Zed with or without the Cobra intake.

Good luck.
