Well i would like to know what a stock 85 GT went. in the 1/4 mile and what will it take for low 13's high 12's...and im wondering after a few bolt ons such as Headers...h-ipipe no cats...full cat back...under drive pulleys , K&N air filter... i have a 650 cfm edelbrock carb...carter high volume fuel pump...I will be using nitto drag radials...and some type of adjustable lower and maybe upper A arms...then if i bolt on my B@M blower or i might go tthe nitrous route not sure yet...if i go nitrous it will be a 100-125 shot...so what will this combo get me????

GT hammered down the quarter mile in 15.9 seconds at 91 MPH, beating the Camaro by 0.6 seconds and 1 MPH. Also one should note that the Camaro had a 3.73:1 axle while the GT was optioned with the 3.08:1 gears.

Really i dont believe those books im sorry My cousins 86 GT 5spd 3.08 bone stock and he wasnt a great driver netted him 14.1's-14.3's BONE stock so how could almost the same car go a second slower? i mean the 85 also had 210 hp vs 200 in 86..so do you think its the driver? I hope to see high 14's on the motor the some work and either the blower or nitrous be in the low 13's are better no?

I got my 85 to go 13.1 with stock heads and only 211rwhp.

What I had....4.10 gears, slicks, TFS1 cam, holley 650dp, weiand stealth intake...yada yada yada. Launch at 5000 rpm and give it hell

The editor of road and track ran that. You need a stealth intake along with the mods you listed. The intake and heads are both junk to start with. An explorer engine would go a long way and could take you to 12s without nos. Could buy a engine for what the nitrous kit will cost.

Ok i dont want to do heads yet...what intake should i use if i go with nitrous? If i go with a blower i dont have to worry about an intake....so if i do some bolt on good tires some adjustable rear A arms...long tube headers...H-pipe no cats...Mac act back exhaust....what should i run without N20 or blower then when i go with either what do you think i can get out of her...By the way its a 5 spd i think it has 3.08's and only has 69,xxx miles on it....what are my chance getting into the 12's
with the mods i stated?

Really...lol....oh i had one on a 283 small block in a 62 impala it ran 13.5's all day and my friend has a 68 camaro with a mild 350 and that blower and runs 12.40's all day....so i dont know i think they work pretty good....
Maybe i know how to tune them...lol....never had a problem with either one of our setups.....Thats why i was thinking of bolting one up to my GT...thought it would get it into the 13's easy that way.....

Bone stock with slicks? That doesn't make it bone stock. If he was on street tires, I have a hard time believing a bone stock 86 GT would run 14.1

In my 85 GT 5-speed, I had just an E-cam (though it wasn't helping a whole lot because my valvesprings were still stock and so was everything else) and 3.45 gears. I could run 14.7 all day long and that was considered by many to be pretty good for what I had. Best was a 2.18 60 ft time.

Well if all you want is 13s then I wouldnt bother with a blower or nitrous...Bolt ons and driving the hell out of the car will get you there

so what do you think a 88 hatch t5 car would run with these mods?
c&l maf with 24# injectors
bbk throttle body
bbk AFPR
3.55 gear
electric fan
h pipe back to dumps, stock headers
100 shot
cobra upper intake

it went 8.7@82 1/8 without the nitrous, gear or electric fan.

Be sure the motor is in good shape. Friend of mine had an 85, 5 speed car, had headers, intake a carb upgrades, and 125 shot. After a few months of the occasional hit, the block had some problems. So, be sure the motor is in good shape, and the tune is on.

I have the same setup and minus the c&l and 24s, and went 8.51. I would take the 24s off and put the 19s back on. Theres no need for them untill you change the heads.

Maybe your track does not read properly. I find it very hard to believe my car with a much better gear set was way slower than another almost identical car purely "because some cars just run better". My driving is not terrible at all. Maybe your buddies car wasn't really bone stock even though he said it was. I have heard and seen many stories of people claiming bone stock, come to find out they have nitrous under the hood and didn't tell anyone.

if you decide to go with n20 dont go with a dual plane intake... get a single plane intake.. they don't mix with the small block ford. The center two runners on either blank are to short and you dont get the proper mixture of fuel and n20. good luck
