Oh i agree, it's a steep price just for exhaust, i'm just saying as far as buying all new stuff, it's not bad compared to the stuff that people will say is better than Mac. I guess in a way i'm sticking up for Mac, because they've supported my engine for about 8 years now and even though the headers look like crap, they still do what they're designed to do. Yeah, if i had the money i would definitely buy something else, but that doesn't necessarily say anything bad about mac, but more about spending wisely and making your car budget stretch further.

I bought all mine with tax refund money and i got my Magnaflow catback used with 2k miles on it for $50 LOL.

Look if you daily drive or drive your car alot, economize by spending more on better quality.

Cheap exhaust kits like mac makes get eaten from the inside in the bends, the mandrel bending machine stretches the pipe thin in the turns.

If you like your car and are going to keep it for a long time, sensible thing to do is buy a section at a time, starting with the catback. Stainless preferred, you will never have trouble getting it apart or with it rusting to pieces.

Everyone here knows i'm a huge bassani fan, no it's not cheap, but it's for life. I've yet to hear of a single person that's ever killed even the bassani bx catback, which is the cheap non stainless version.

My offroad bassani SS x was indestructable, so where the headers.

I'm not saying only use bassani, it's just that other than kooks it's the only stuff i can attest to the quality of first hand.
Explore other options, just do your car a favor and don't go cheap.

Oh, almost forget, ford racing shorties are pretty good too.

honestly i dont know much about the mechanics of cars im more of a appearence guy(auto body)... i just bought an 89 convertible gt and i want to put some money into it and make it a head turner. i watched some videos on youtube and i liked the way the mac setup sounded, i guess its pretty much what i based it on(sound over quality).
if i can find something that has a bad ass rumble and is top quality than i would defenitly go the route.
if someone could suggest a setup that sounds loud and is top of the line, i would be happy.

I've heard them all.
Most sound good in their own way.
And while everyone has their favorite, your ears get used to the new sound in a couple days regardless.
The deep sound that people love is usually a product of using an offroad x or h pipe, which again people will debate, but honestly as someone that has used them both the difference is minimal.

For now you want a good sound, forget the headers and just an offroad x or h and a good catback.

My preference is bassani.
