I'm not positive, but I think the court will issue a warrant for your arrest. I dunno if the fine goes up or not. It probably depends on your county.

Probably depends on the state, but you could end up with a warrant out for you.

There will not be a warrant because it is not a criminal charge. However, If you dont pay or elect a court hearing within 30 days your license will be automatically suspended. Then if you get caught driving on that suspended license you will get criminal charges against you.

Most of the time if you have a decent record you can take it to court and plead no contest. Most judges in that case will not issue the points on your license and will only make you pay the fine and court costs.

In NC they issue a warrant for failure to appear and stuff. I would pay it or talk to the DA and have it reduced.

Failure to appear on criminal charges or traffic charges? If they issue warrants on traffic charges then they are hardcore up there!!!

If you are worried about the points, do as said above, No Contest, and ask for a defensive driving course if they don't dismiss the charges. You can at least get the points taken off that way, and that should keep your insurance from going up. Just an idea........

In NC, if you have court, and you don't appear, it's an arrest warrant, doesn't matter if you're in court for killing someone or rolling through a stop sign. If you don't pay the ticket before hand, and don't go to the optional court, then you go straight to jail.

In MA you have 30 days to pay it and if you default the first time you are charged 50$ in addition to the ticket and you have 30 more days to pay that. If you still dont pay your lisence is suspended. But as the others have stated and in my experience if you fight it... 9 times out of 10 it gets reduced and sometimes dismissed if the cop doesnt show. if not you tried but i wouldnt recomend not paying it if you value your lisence.

Well i got this ticket at the beach. I really don't want to drive 4 hours to go to court for a $130 ticket. Not sure on the points but usually tickets with that small of a fine are accompanied with 2-3 points max. So can i plead "no contest" without going to court somehow on the phone?

hire a lawyer, I got a ticket 5 hours from my house and didnt feel like going to court over there so I hired the lawyer for the total amount of the ticket + $80 and let him take care of it, and when you think about, the extra 80 dollars is probably less than you would spend on the gas, food, and possible place to stay if you drove to court out there.

I got a ticket in west virginia once for speeding, I never paid it cause the cop was a dick. I've been pulled over a few times since for various small infractions and they never said anything... I suppose it helps that I have a texas drivers license and never went back to west virginia (I was driving through on my way to a hunting trip)
