Ok, I got Wes (Stanger007) to program me a chip from www.moates.net. When I put it it I loved it. The car stayed cooler because the fan settings were changed, the shift retard made a HUGE difference.

Not the problem. The other night I went to leave a friends house and the car started, then died and would not start again. I smelled like it was really rich. I still had the comp sitting on the ground so I pulled the chip out and it started. Then I put it back, and it wouldnt start. I had something over it so no metal would touch it too.

I just got home from work and plugged it back in and it works fine now. I just want to find out why it was doing that before I put the CPU back in the kickpanel (if I can lol)

The only reason I can think it would do that is a shoddy connection on the J3 port. Like we talked about earlier, that connection has to be surgically clean and the chip pressed on well. With the PCM on the floor it could have got bumped around. Be sure the key is off (can't hurt either if negative battery cable is pulled) when you are messing with the chip so that nothing gets shorted out.

Now enjoy that mackin' shift retard, better spark tables, etc :nice:

I just went to leave with the chip in and it wouldnt start again. It was hot at HELL in my car if that matters. And when I pulled it and started it, it blew a cloud of blue (oil) smoke. Besides that it runs fine.

I have to work on a paper tonight, bit tomorrow, Ill pull the comp again and clean it some more. and send you the pics you wanted.

Heat shouldn't affect it - check on the chip for any physical damage from trying to get it back into the kickpanel, something could have gotten loose there?

If that one seems to be bad, we'll burn ya up another one and see if the is a physical problem with the chip. I'll run it on my car for a few days to see if I have any issues.

Sounds good on the pics.

Im pretty sure it didnt get messed up physically. I had a card over it and the card wasnt touched. And the card went down in the cpu a little, so it couldnt ground itself on the CPU case.

Im betting its just the connection.

The eraser is getting alot of crap off that I didnt know was there. Especially on thje back side where its harder too get to.

Wes, do you need a pic of the EEC opened up too?

My computer has been laying out of the kick panel for months now. No issues, but mine already had a chip in it. So it had been cleaned before. As a matter of fact it was cleaned pretty rough.

My new chip came with a piece of 3M green pad for cleaning if that helps any.

Ill get some of that from work tomorrow and continue on like 3 hours of cleaning. lol

In the mean time, Wes is sending me another chip, and Ill send this one back to see if anything is wrong w/ it.
