Just curious, but what mods would it take a 96-98 Cobra to keep up/beat an automatic, convertible 04/05 Corvette in a race? What do the auto corvette's run in the 1/4? Oh, it's not a ZO6.

I think a supercharger will treat you well. But that is with all the supporting mods including gears and all the bolt ons.

I got into it with a C5, and pulled about 1/2 car length on him from 40-85. I was very surprised! being that I got my ass handed to me by a SS camaro that sounded stock. Maybe the guy couldn't drive, but I really think that it was an auto, I never saw or heard him shift so all it would take is putting your foot to the floor.

He must have had an empty cylinder or something, cause your mods shouldn't put you in the ballpark with a C5...

You would need around 410hp concidering the weight difference, and that's with you being a good driver.. Take it for what it's worth..

Not necessarily..if you have the proper gears, you don't need nearly as much power. That is, if by 'beat' you mean at a stoplight/dragstrip...

I know that I shouldn't have pulled on him at all, and by the look on his face he didn't think that I could even keep up. I don't know it just one of those things, you never know what will happen, I hate to admit it but I lost to an integra (type R) one day that looked stock, and then walked all over a modded 98 cobra the next week. I've out run ls1's and been smoked by lt1's. But what really pissed me off was getting waxed by a older Q45 with chrome fender flares of all things. I think my car is moody, I don't know. BTW I wasn't going to be winning the race with the vett if it had gone on much longer, I'd bet by 100 to 110 he'd have caught me.

My buddy has a 97 cobra with T/A, pullies, CAI, LT's, hi flow cat pipe, catback and 3.73's (he dynoed 287rwhp) and he ran even with a stock C5 until he missed 3rd gear. He said the vette was starting to creep away toward the ned of 2nd. No doubt 3rd would have been uglier. Depends on driver and tranny combo.

FYI - My dad's bussy has an 03 vert auto that ran 13.0 @ 108 with just a catback.

I would think bolt-ons and gears would get you in the ball park.

1st and 2nd gear you'll beat him with an exhaust, gears, and a CAI. Just shut it down real quick or keep missing 3rd if you don't want your ego to fly by you in 3rd. I've hung dead even with c5's right until 3rd and it's like they spray a 50 shot.

Kudos to the LS1/LS6 3rd gear! Wait.. did I just say that?
