71, 302 30 over flat top forged pistons with valve reliefs wind age tray, 65 289 53cc heads screw in studs ported, polished, with 195 in 160 exh behive springs, 1.6 roller rockers, Wiend stealth intake Lunati Voodoo cam Duration 262/268, Lift .499/.522. and what would be a good carb for this setup?

a 570 holley street avenger or holley 600 vacuum secondary would work good for a street combo. I would guesstimate prolly 260-270 with those stock heads. Those voodoo cams are known for unlocking alot of power in a stock motor, but those heads are going to hold you back. You would probably get another 70 hp with a properly matched set of AFR 165ccs and a cam to work with it.
Good I did get the 600 holley vacuum carb. I know these heads are iron heads but they are not stock. They are the hipo heads with a lot of porting ( I would say as much as you can port without getting them to hot) and larger 195 160 valves.(which is the same size the AFR 165 run. Compression is 10.5.1 per my machine shop
That said I have been thinking about making it hotter the AFR185 and a larger CAM something that comes in about 2200 or so. I am running a 2600 stall in a AOD and 380 gears

Is this a street car or a strip car. By making some of those other changes you are going to sacrifice a lot down low and you will have to spin it pretty high to see the benefits of a combo like the second you mentioned. I have AFR 165's on my car and they flow really well. You may pick up 15-20 hp with the 185's but it won't be at a very reasonable rpm for a street car. Just my opinion though.
68 it is a street and I do agree with you. I am just getting the HP bug and think I need to build a good 302 drag motor and buy a cheap 4 banger fox car and go have some fun. lol The 67 will be to nice to beat on anyway I have spent way to much on pretty stuff. I still may upgrade to the AFR 165 if I do not like what the Iron heads do . I mean they made 271 on the hipo engines un-ported with stock valves? I know the cam was a solid lifter cam though. but I also have more displacement? I guess we shall see.
