The reason you are having trouble getting information is that not many people look at the regional sections much. You would be much better off asking it in the 5.0 section. Your question is not region specific, so you are probably only getting people from the NE looking at your question instead of everyone.
i would recomend the 303 cam to start. it's up to u what version from b303 to
z303. the block should be fine to start. go to jegs and look at the scat stroker for the small block and they have alot of the info that u need.
How can you recommend an outdated "alphabet" cam desinged for a 302 to be put in a 347?
Maybe for this application but there is nothing wrong with a good ol F303.
I have READ that the 87-89 or 90 blocks are a little stronger then the other roller blocks, not sure why or even if its true.
Have you ever tried to degree an alphabet cam? Obviously not....lobe events are all over the place, not even close to what is advertised. Not to mention they are made of inferior cam cores and use out dated single pattern profiling.
Not true, 74-95 all have the same basic core with thin main webbing. The only real change in these block during this time period was the switch to roller cams which raised the lifter bores. The stronger blocks would be pre-1974 289 and 302's which have much thicker main webbing. The mexican block is also stronger than the later blocks with thicker main webbing and thicker main caps that are the same as the 289 HIPO main caps
Whatever you say, tell that to the 100000 turbo mustangs running F cams making good power. The other thing is what I READ. Everyone knows pre 74 is stonger....
Strictly speaking on production blocks you basically have 2 options as far as the best block and it depends on if you wanna stay with a roller cam or not. You either get the old '60s 302 block and run a flat tappet cam or you get a Mexican block and go with a roller. Those are your two strongest production options.
I am looking for a 5.0 motor to build into a 347 stroker I have a chance to buy a complete running 1995 5.0 for cheap is this a good year to build I could use some info on this so I don't waste my cash Thanks.
