My setup consists of pretty much everything in my sig, i got my intake ported by tmoss also. I of course want to get the romac ultralite $200 balancer but am wondering if its even worth it. Any other good brands thatd be good for my combo (50oz) What is everyone running?

thanks

Drew

Drew I have used a few Pioneer balancers and they have always fit and been marked correctly, SFI approved $175 shipped.

The Ultralight alum outer ring Romac is a sweet piece but it is $275

I bought a JEGs SFI 18.1 balancer ($270), it was awesome, and fitted perfect, marked correctly, and also marked at 180 degrees and 270. I liked it.

whatever Rick recommends is golden, as far as i am concerned.

Drew, it might to know how you drive the car. if you live at redline, i would choose differently than i would for someone (like me) who seldom tach's over 3K.

it looks like you have some money in the motor - i would not skimp on a balancer myself.

good luck.

I have the Romac UltraLite. Combined w/ the aluminum flywheel, the engine revs up very quick

Car's ok. Grenaded 3rd gear the other day. Other than that, it's running great. Went open tracking in March at California Speedway. About 65 miles of WOT fun!

Unless your making some big HP's, an OEM or equivalent would be fine. Cost around $80-$100. JMO

Guyfox, even on stock applications, the stock balancers dont necessarily hold up for very long for some folks. that is one time where i would sorta look for something from the aftermarket.

Appx 1lb lighter on my bathroom scale when I compared my 50oz romac ultra light against my factory balancer. If I had a digital scale i'd be able to get a better more exact answer, but its appx 1lb.

IMO 1lb is a pretty decent difference when considering how fast they spin!

In my research when I was looking for another balancer for my 347, ATI and Romac are about the best you can buy. The only thing I don't like about the romac is it will get some surface rust on it. I will be painting mine once Rick ships the engine to me.

I've been trying to figure out for years how a balancer can go bad, so how does it happen? Mine doesn't look balanced while the motor's running these days...is this how to tell, or is there something else?
