Whats a good tire ?

I am looking for tires for my 97 cobra. I want a tire that gives me as much traction as possible but is still good in rain. I drive my car long distances to car shows sometimes that last a week. So I never know what the weather will be like. I do take it to the track maybe once a month or more.

I have Cooper Zeon 2XS on my '03 convertible. I like them a lot. I drive to the Jersey shore about four to six times a year and they are great. They are excellent in wet or dry and they don't cost a bundle. The wear rating is 280, so it isn't too bad compared to some tires in the lower 200 range.

Either way, I have plenty of confidence in them no matter if the conditions are wet or dry. Check them out.

I was thinking about BFG G-force tires but they have so many versions I wasn't really sure what to get.

I put firestone protenza's on my V6 but i wasn't sure about putting them on the cobra.

The Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 was recently rated as the best all around high performance (wet and dry) tire by Car and Driver magazine. I have them on my Cobra and have been very happy with them. However, they're not cheap.

i just bought some nitto nt555r's for my rears, they grip great, not sure on water though....

I had Nitto DR's that did good in the rain.

I've been running the same tire for about 4k miles. Very good all around tire. I just came out of Khumo Ecsta MXs and the Goodyears seem to grip as hard or harder and are more progressive when they let go. I finally got to drive them in the wet yesterday and they were fine. Lots of heavy puddling on the highway and they seemed very resistant to hydroplaning. Wet grip seemed much better than what I remember with the Khumos. They aren't real cheap, but my memory is that they were at the bottom end for "premium" brand tires. Wearing OK so far. We'll see how they last. I was only getting about 8-10k miles out of a set of the MXs.

I've had BFG G-force KDW's on my car for the past 3-4 years and they are really good tires IMO...They have good dry traction and even better wet traction...

I have BFG G-force KDW generation 1 tires (275) and they spin very easily in wet weather. Dry traction is good. I also have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 (285) and they grip amazingly well wet or dry. The problem with them is a lot of road noise. Neither hydroplane at 70-75.
