What's an air silencer?

the rubber thing attached to your air box going into the fenderwell.

While we're on the subject of useless things on my car, anybody know what those black plastic things behind the rear wheels, bolted to the inner fender are??

Mudflaps? Unless, you are talking about the fender liner? Pics would probably help.

lol, not mudflaps or the liner. I'll try to post pics tonight, but in the meantime, if you meander out to your garage, and look inside the rear fender well behind the wheel you'll see a black plastic triangular thing with a bolt through it.
