I'm putting a 91 5.0 motor in my 89 mustang convertible and I'm wondering what the difference is in the mounts, I'm putting solid motor mounts in and wondering which motor mounts are correct for my application. (89 mustang with a 91 block) any differences in block/bolt-up???

Yep to Mav. The difference is in the captured nature of the vert mount, but the bolt-up points are the same.

FWIW, vert mounts were standard on all 5.0's by 93 (perhaps sooner).

recomended they will work but the reason (i think) was because the losing the hardtop lost some structural integrity the motor mounts were softer i beleive to allow more give, too riged of a mount on a vert esp. 5spd with a hopped up motor would increas the chance of bend or warp. IMHO

Alright thanks, just curious then why do alot of the motor mounts on ebay will say "do not fit convertibles" is it just recommended not to then or what?
This is my guess. The verts were not supposed to have early hardtop mounts, so they dont recommend a step down.

From the parts store, I paid 50 bucks for both vert mounts and a trans mount.

BTW, I have no idea what the guy above me said.

Good luck.
