Whats different about the 1987 shortblocks vs mine (94-95)

Im pretty sure they have forged pistons but do they have the valve reliefs in them like we do?I found one nearby that a friend has and I would like to swap it into my car.Anything else differnet?

similar valve reliefs, different pistons (forged)

Should not be any issue in just swapping

i have never seen that listed as forged

i have the forged trws i mine

the 86 have a full flat top correct?

well dangit i have read 89-92 and now 86-92

i thought the 86 has no valve reliefs... with the e6 heads and smaller cam

no, the only diff in 86 and an 87 is the smaller throttle body on the 86. both have E7 heads, both have the same cam. both have forged pistons.

Similar valve reliefs? Think itll be fine with Twisted wedge heads and a big cam? Thanks guys.

nope, 86 had E6 heads and forged flat top pistons. It is the piston design that limits your head or cam choices on that engine.

85 to mid 92 are FORGED

so the 87 has valve reliefs, and the 86 has flat tops. the 87 has E7s, and the 86 has E6s, got it now, thanks Hardmangt

Depends what a big cam is....especially with a twisted wedge.

What is the exact cam specs.....as always it is best to claim. I beleive the cc's are slightly different in the hyper pistons.
