Whats different about the 1987 shortblocks vs ours (94-95)

Im pretty sure they have forged pistons but do they have the valve reliefs in them like we do?I found one nearby that a friend has and I would like to swap it into my car.Anything else differnet?

ONLY THING THAT IS DIFFERENT IS THAT THEY HAVE FORGED PISTONS. tHE VALVE REIEFS ARE THE SAME AS WELL AS EVERYTHING ELSE. AS LONG AS IT IS 87 OR NEWER. I THINK THE PRE 87 SHORT BLOCKS HAD DIFFERENT THINGS GOING ON

before 87 was carb motors and im almost sure that they werent roller.

Forged pistons and different timing cover, that that isn't usually considered part of the short bock.

86 was EFI also, just had a smaller runner dia. intake, but looked the same, the 86 had flattop pistons they were forged but had no valve relief.

Timing cover is not but the pistons are considered part of the shortblock.

Sweet I can always swap my timing cover over. Thansk guys, I think I found my shortblock!
