Theres a stang for sale close by and my dad and me checked it out a little while ago. I was wondering if you guys could give me an idea what its worth or what you would offer.

Its a 83 V6. The body looks pretty good except for a spot on the roof next to the sun roof(is sun roofs common in these?) The interior is shot which ain't really a big deal. The seats are all tore up and the head liner is the same way. It looks like it has gotten damp from the formentioned spot in the roof. I know for a fact it needs new valve cover gaskets. They are leaking and the pass side one is leaking so bad the oil is on the exhaust and smoking. Again not really that big of a deal I can fix that. It started up pretty good and sounds good. Its carbed so ya have to pump it a little. It will need new tires as well but thats a normal maint. thing. They are asking 700 obo. What do you guys think? Also what V6 would that be?

Heres a pic:

I've never owned one, but I have only heard bad things about the early carbed 3.8's. Some went as far to say it was one of the most unreliable motors Ford ever put into a car. Looks like it'd be a good project though. How many miles are on the motor?

miles i'm not sure never thought to look. As far as one of the worst I have heard that about the 2.8 thats in our Ranger. It sounds soooooooo much better then the Ranger. All I'm looking for is somethign better running then that cause when my truck is down I need something else to drive and the ranger pisses me off. I'd rather drop a 5.0 in a stang then in the Ranger if need be in the future. I would think you could get more out of it then the ranger even if it was just a roller

Personally, I would rather drive a 4-cyl fox than a V-6 fox...You should be able to find one of those for not much more than that car.

Or you could just take the 700 you would pay for that POS and fix your Stang :D

I'm not buying it lol. I'm trying to talk my dad into buying it. The plan is buy the stang and sell the ranger

oh man do i <3 4 eyes!!!

i think it looks pretty decent... especially for the year... personally, and idk if ur into it... but its obvious you can go crazy in just dressing it up a little better... u say the interior is shot, always grab some seats out of a wrecked stang... not sure if u weld? but that could fix ur little leak problem... and yes, from waht ive read up on, alotta these 6 bangers came thru w/ factory sunroofs... its just not the kind that opens all the way correct?

either way, i think it would be much better than the ranger, especially if u guys sink a little $$ and a little time into it... well, u no what the benefits look like after :nice: good luck either way bro!

well I looked on ebay and didn't find **** that cheap in a 50 mile range. Was hoping to find a cheap 5.0 lol. I just talked to my dad and i asked him how low would be low ballin'. He said he was thinking about startng at 300. I agreed offer them 300 and see what happens

personally i love it. yeah its got problems but so does the 86 4 banger my g/f bought about a month ago. and we already got hers primered and have a 302 ready to go in.

to me (and i know i will probably hear it for saying this) i'd go for it. a four eyed fox is my favorite fox. if they made an efi four eyed i would be in heaven.lol

I kept buggin my dad to call about it today be he kept saying I thought You were going too. I don't wanna be the one to make the offer. I guess I'll have to call tomorrow and ask her the couple questions I have. I want to know where she gets it inspected. I have learned this is a good idea. A guy was trying to sell me a bike and I went to the shop and he said you'll die its too slow. I also wanna see if shes willing to let us take it for a spin.

Just for ****s a giggles I know a 4-8 swap is better but what would it take to swap a 302 into it?
