Hey, I have an 88GT 5 spd and am looking to install a Tremec tko600. I hear that I would need a new bellhousing, clutch, etc. Is this true? Can anyone please give me specifics on where and what to get? Thank you.
you will need a new bellhousing 26 spline clutch, new crossmember or you can modify yours, and a new driveshaft yoke. call up holcomb motorsports and they can tell you everything you will need
i would try to stay away from modifying the crossmember unless you have experince in doing things like that. i would go with an un-damaged one from a junker.
All you need to do is grind down the spotwelds on the stocker and it will then slide back.
Also not mentioned. You will need a different driveshaft yoke. I had to also have mine rebalanced (FMS Alumimum) and I also needed it shortened at least 3/4". Either grind off the exaust hangers on the midpipe or have them moved.
I know I will need a different crossmember because not only is the tranny longer making it at the edge of the limits of a modified crossmember but I got a K-member now that you can move the motor back 1", and I will. Oh what fun it is going to be to put this car back togeather!!!
