Whats the best head gasket for a stardard bore 302

Well since i have to replace a head gasket, i want to know which ones are best for our cars. I had teh fel-pro gaskets on the car, cheaper version, stock replacement version. They didn't last that long---due to other probs attributing it blowing but anyway, i am trying a different set of heads, as mine have already been shaved .035 and the drivers side head i believe is warped, as the car got quite warm quite fast.

So i figured if i have one off i might as well replace them both, as i think it is just as much a pain in the a$$ to take off one side when you have it tore down that far as it is to do 'em both.

i was also wondering, just for knowledge sake how much you can mill a set of heads before you run into p/v clearance issues on a stock valve and with .498 lift intak and exhaust with a 1.7 RR. I would also like to know the stock combustion chamber size for our e7's

Stock CC - I have heard 58cc-62cc. I'm not sure what Ford says it is. Even magazines differ.

How much can you mill the heads? It depends on duration and valve timing. I'm guessing you have an E-cam? You could only mill the heads about .040" max, before having to mill the intake manifold, and I don't think you'd have PTV problems if you milled the heads .040". Check PTV before you mill the heads, add head gasket thickness and then subtract what you are going to mill off of the heads. If your total number is more than .050" on the intake side, I think you'd be fine.

As for headgaskets, a lot of us use the Fel-Pro #1011-2 (I think that is the part number), which fit a 4.100" bore.

felpro 9333 pt-1 is a popular one. Very tough gasket, and its cheap too, autozone sells them for 18 a pop. Do some searching on the corral on that gasket..

cool, see the reason i said about the head shaving is cause i had mine shaved .035 already. and i think they have to shave off .010 to get a good flat surface if it is warped

If indeed they do have to shave .010 or anything more than that, you are probably going to have to get the lower manifold milled to get it to seal correctly. Be sure to check...
