hi guys looks like i dumbed my motor with the blower
for some reason my oil pressure dropped to 0 when i was on the highway and i damaged my motor so

the car is parked and i am saving up for a new motor

in saying that can anyone give me an idea of what i should be looking at

i am thinking mmr 900 shortblock $2799+ shipping

i am only looking for 500hp with the car

i am also thinking about adding camms or ported heads or both to the mix

my only other question is will the fuel system need to be upgraded from the focus svt pump i have in the car atm

my idea

mmr 900 shortblock
vortech blower 10psi w/intercooler
ported and polished stock heads w/titanium valve springs
full exuast system (longtube headers)
maybe stage 1 blower cams

Yes to post # 2.

You will need dual cobra pumps with a BAP, or a Ford GT fuel pump to make it to 500.
SVT runs out of steam around 420-440RWHP.

Man so I wonder what happened? Seems odd that it would just take a dive durring cruize. Well thats 3 mongoose cars down that I know of....but out of what thousands, thats not bad haha.

MMR is a good choice.I was looking at the MMR 900 also. After considering it's extra $$ for the high volume oil pump and ARP hardware along with their shipping charges I went with VT for less $$.Check out the VT sportsman SB.They had the 302 stroker on sale but I am not sure if it still is.

the original post isn't too specific but it seems as though the engine would've died whether or not it had the mongoose kit

seems a little strange an engine would just quit like that though:shrug:

with a forged block i'd run a little more than 10psi. i'd skip the p/p and cams and worry about the fuel supply, then run it up to 15psi or more

i too am getting my set up together including the built block. i think you have the right idea so far. you will have to change the fuel system though. i am looking at the cobra tank and pumps but still havent quite figured it out completely.

i too want to get 500 to the wheels and not sure if the duel cobras are enough even with the boost a pump. are the ford gt pumps a better choice? can you use the cobra duel tack/basket deal?

you just have to figure out what fuel system will make it to 500 and past if possible, as do i.

does anyone know if the cobra set up and bap will go beyond 500?

I'm with the other guys who suggested a forged motor. If all you're looking for is 500hp, then you can get that with a forged bottom end 4.6ltr motor, worked cylinder heads (valve job, ss valves, titanium valve springs, cnc porting), cams, free flowing exhuast, good blower setup, and tune.

The block out of a 96-98 Cobra can handle 1,500 hp, and the crank from an 03-04 cobra can handle +900hp.
ported PI heads become the weak link after 500-550hp.

A GT pump should be fine. Personally id run bigger than 42# inj. and aftermarket fuel rails and lines.
03-04 Cobra owners can push 575hp on their stock pump. But its best to go big and de-tune.

hey, i'm in a similar situation as you are; looking for a new short block.

rather than considering the 302 stroker, which i think adds about 20hp, i'm thinking of just getting a 281 aluminum block for about the same $. with the weight saving of about 70-90 pounds off the FRONT of the car, straightline acceleration should probably be competitive versus the extra hp you get with the 302. also, weight saving off the front of the car will vastly improve handling on curvy roads.

good luck with your decision and keep us posted. i still haven't made my decision on which block and from which company.

yea you would think that but i contemplated the aluminum block a long time ago. thing is the price of the aluminum block is 500 more which is the price of the stroker but there are parts you have to buy that are not included. like the timing cover and i think you might need the cobra timing parts and gears, and the cobra oil pump.

im not 100 % on this but i know you need some other parts, right?

also whats wrong with pi heads after 500 rwhp?

ok so far as the motor it had a slight tick coming from it before the blower was added and i just did not take the time to find out if that tick was from the engine or the tranny

the car ran fine for months with it and i was like well if its a valve i will just fix it after i install the blower and when i do my cams

i was driving the car went to down shift and thats when i noticed my oil pressure was at zero maybe my oil pump died on my or something

anyways whats done is done and a new shortblock is in the works i am sure that the blower did not kill the car i rarely ever drive my car hard

it was more like a poor motor and a brain dead owner :D that was the cause

so far with the car sitting i have almost all the parts for my custom fmic with a 10psi pulley in the mail

and since talking to you guys i will be ordering the cobra fuel tank with duel pumps and bap that should give me the fuel i need for a 500hp car

and i will take a look at vt shortblock over mmr900 shortblock

i will be removing the blower from the car and returning her to stock
i just dont like shops touching my car when its modified they always seem stupid stuff like you know with that blower on there your going to damage your motor or dude you have your belt on the car wrong or dude if you spray yourcar with the nx kit it will kill your pistons even with a 50shot its to much for your factory motor

i just want to say shout the FCK up and change the freaking oil man

any ways the goal for april

forged shortblock
custom fmic
10psi out of my vortech
cobra fuel tank and pumps
and a new tune

You could have saved ALOT of money with a single Ford GT pump.

It will supply fuel to OVER 500RWHP...they maxed a single out @ 550RWHP with nothing more than larger gauge wiring (upgraded wiring...fairly common thing to do).

Anywho, glad the blower wasnt the cause....and glad that your getting everything squared away. :) Good luck mang.

One thing I think everyone forgot to ask, and what you forgot to tell us is whether or not your car is a daily driver, and if you're at all concerned about gas mileage. Just a thought.

forged sb, s trim @ 15 psi, and blower cams with bolt ons and you will be at 500rwhp easily
I didn't read this. :SNSign:

sounds good jive

and yes my car is a daily driver but i do have a beater i drive to work so for the most part the car will be driven less to keep the miles low on it hehe will lower i have 68k on the car atm

by feb. i should have the money needed to get the car back on the road

i think i will be going simple

forged block mmr900 or vt $3000.00
new stock heads (with a sligth port) comp valve springs $350+$250
blower camms $600
cpr fuel rail $400
cobra fuel tank and dual pumps $600
----------------------------------------------------------
total about-------------------> $5200+$1500 installed ($6700)
i think i should be good to go with this set-up

after the install i would get a tune, finsih my custom fmic set-up and then start tuning and dropping the blower pulley size
